Didi you folks check this out. What an incredible item for anyone's collection. The mandrel looks funky in the pictures, but overall very nice machine. Does anyone know how many of these were made? That is why it looks black rather than nickeled. I remember seeing this machine at Clarence's in the late 60's. I have seen one other at Hathaway and Bowers Gallery in the 70's. I know of one M electric Concert that is not a coin-op. This is certainly an extremely rare machine. We will have to wait until all the snipe bids are over to see what it actually goes for. The machine was offered earlier at $50,000 with no takers. [Phono-L] Gregg Cline
Has anyone heard from Gregg, since his hometown of Findlay, Ohio was badly flooded? I hope his family, home, and collection are all ok. If anyone hears, please post information here. Apparently he and Karen are here in Oregon visiting their daughter so I have not talked to him. Don't know the status of their home, but as I recall, it is right downtown on flat terrain so it could have been flooded. I also seem to recall that he had a basement so it could be bad news for them. But most if not all of their collection was on shelves on the first floor and the balance on the second and third floor of the home. The Aeolean Vocalion Graduola also encouraged the listener to interact via their Graduola "remote control" which was a solid wire inside a spiral wire with a black coating. The cable controlled the motion of a roughly teardrop shaped, fluted rubber stopper that moved up or down in the throat of the horn where it connected to the base of the reproducer.
