Re: [Phono-L] Charlie Hummel on TV
I agree with you. First of all--there was not enough of Charlie Hummel's collection at all. And second of all--his collection should never have been combined with the creepy collections of weird people and announced by a ghoul. I wonder if he knew that the "science" channel was going to associate his collection with crazy people. Or am I just being a crazy phonograph collector myself? [Phono-L] ORO PHONE ORO-TONE Reproducers for sale low price
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ORIGINAL-RARE-ORO-PHONE-ORO-TONE-Reproducer-Phonograph-IN-BOX-GRAMOPHONE-/121060138214 I have two Oro tone reproducers, one sounds good, the other one does not. One has the set screw (common thread) in the throat one does not. They are held together with rivets, I do not have the time to rebuild the one that does not sound good. I have no use for them. If anyone is interested I will sell them both for $15 which will include shipping. They weigh 12.8 ounces so they will cost me around $7.50 to ship priority mail in a 7x7x6 box. I just want to get rid of them. If you are interested and think $15 is too high make me an offer that will include shipping. I paid $40 or more for both of them so I am not making money on them. I hate to throw them out. Thanks, Steve ___ Phono-L mailing list http://phono-l.org

Re: [Phono-L] Charlie Hummel on TV
I don't have broadcast TV anymore, I have Roku, the video streaming player with tons of channels. I was able to see the episode of Oddities with Charley on it, I had no idea how gigantic his collection was. I read a Daily Mail article from 2011 in which a guy died, and when they went to go through his estate discovered he had 300 phonographs. They thought that might be the largest collection known. I would say definitely not.
