Re: [Phono-L] Rare Gothic
The Columbia Phonograph Companion Volume II by Baumbach Describes this as the Small Gothic (P26) one of Several Grafonolas featuring a dark oak carved cabinet with polychrome decorations. Available with either electric or spring motor. The Original 1919 Price was $675.00 reduced to $450 in 1921. When I thought I might finish it tone arms were going for stupid money but not now. I do have a tone arm but it is incorrect. I believe it was made with generic parts. I am not motivated but but by the same token I'll never finish it. If you have a bit of skill it would be a great project. I would be inclined to sell it only as a cabinet and throw the parts into the mix so we have an understanding. The motor works BTW. The lamp is in the cabinet, no top as usual, so is the wooden arm for the lid. I can get you about 90% there. The polychrome is not bright nor strong but I have not tried to clean it. I will sell it when I'm retired or if there is an interest now. They are not hard to sell so now or later. I did have to "pay" for the cabinet. Union is coming up!
