Hello Michael:

You will find the red banner range of the Model A 'long case' Home to be from
the introduction of the 'New Cabinet' style to H52234 which is the highest I
have confirmed.  By H52251 the black banner has been used and the red is
history.

I have seen a seller on eBay with a refinished Home B cabinet using a modern
red banner decal declare the machine to be an all original rare and highly
desirable red banner Home.  Again, this makes me want to scream at the
computer...

Regards,

Al

PS:  The 'New Style Cabinet' came in just before 41000.  So, about 12,000 red
banner long case Home As were made.

While we're at it gang, I'd love to know the range of serial numbers within
which the early red banner (originally placed on the lid) appeared on the front
of the Home case.

about
the closest I can estimate is that the Home lost the banner decal around serial

with the new decal.  A safe range would probably be between 205,000 and 210,000.

Re: [Phono-L] Vic O record cabinet

2012-11-16 Thread Ron Brink
I actually ended up speaking with that individual.  The cabinet sold along with
a Victor O he had with it i.e. package deal.  So, from what I understood, it
was basically a record cabinet in mahogany that fit.

Re: [Phono-L] Victor O cabinet

2012-11-12 Thread Ron Brink
Recently I saw an ad for a Victor O record cabinet.  I didn't know there was a
specific cabinet style for the O.  That brings a few questions.  Are there
record cabinets that correspond to each Victor model O - 6?   Specifically,
what does the O cabinet look like?  Does anyone have one they can take a
picture of?
Finally, if this item actually exists, which I assume it does, does anyone have
one they would be willing to sell?

Thank-you!

[Phono-L] in the news

2012-05-20 Thread Ron Brink
I'm not sure how many on the list were familiar with Frank Zymunt here in the
Chicago area.  He has been an acquaintance of mine for some years.  He has been
quite influencial in the coin op business for some 25 years. I purchased a few
machines from him including a nice 1950's Coca Cola vending machine.  Well, I
found out he died recently.  I was caught by surprise by this one.  He had such
a vast collection in his home.  I estimated it at around $1 million in my
mind.  Apparently, an auction was held in PA and the final tally of receipts
was roughly $942,000.00  I am not sure if that was everything...whether his
family retained anything or what, but whoever, purchased machines at this
auction obtained some very rare coin op machines and phongraphs, music
machines, etc..  I've seen some pretty nice collections and heard about others,
but it would be hard to believe that anyone could have challenged the scope,
size, rarity, etc of what Frank
Sr. had.  He opened his home to me many times and was quite helpful even
though he was clearly quiet/reserved about his collection.  The security around
his home was pretty intense!

It always amazes me when someone like this passes and leaves such a substantial
estate.  It almost seems like the collection should remain together and be put
in some type of museum rather than broken apart.  However, when does the
average guy get the chance to pick up a nice Eclipse :0

[Phono-L] wanted Brass Orthophonic reproducer

2010-06-29 Thread Ron Brink
I just picked up a nice VV 8-9 this weekend and am really enjoying it! I have
it all polished up and playing some of my favorite records.
This is a late model, but I'd really like to purchase a Brass Ortho. Reproducer
for it. Does anyone have one available in nice condition? I would also consider
a nice standard tear drop (later) version if the gold is nice and it plays
well.

Please contact me direct with any offers.

Best,
