Re: [Phono-L] Cygnet suggestion

2012-03-20 Thread Gregory Cline

Thanks Jerry!
I can wood grain cygnet horns in Oak or Mahogany. I have also grained
Amberola 1 horns and elbows, morning glory horns, Amberola 30 Grills, Paper
Mache' MG horns, Victor Brass bell horns cone in mahogany for a Victor VI.

The cost for graining a cygnet in either oak or mahogany is $175 plus
postage. This cost is for a bare metal horn and includes the decals. If I
have to strip paint or repair the horn there is additional cost based on
what is needed. I often pick horns up at shows (Union or Wayne) and return
them to the next show to save postage.
You can contact me off list at this email or at zonoph...@woh.rr.com. Or
visit my decal website, http://phonodecal.com and there is a contact link
there as well.

Thanks!

Gregg Cline

If you're going to buy a reproduction Cygnet and have it painted, why not
have Gregg Cline paint it in an oak woodgrain?  In my opinion, it would be
must more interesting than a freshly paint black horn.  I'd suggest ordering
the horn and have it sent to Gregg.  He does a wonderful job and applies his
excellent decals to the finished horn.  Jerry Blais

I think the horn you are talking about may have been one similar to those that
Tim Fabrizio sold at one time. Check out his website or check with him.

Jerry:

How do I get in touch with Gregg to research and price it?

On another note:

Some time ago I had asked if anyone had seen a small horn which sits on the
reproducer and must have been someone's design, as I don't think it was
anything to resemble a factory original horn. I saw it on a Edison Fireside
in New Orleans in a antique shop. It was small and looked like a , say 8" to
10" wide morning-glory horn. I don't recall the "petals" being rounded or
scalloped, just say "octagonal". I thought it was cool and wanted to get one
this one was the "maroon" color associated with the Fireside original horn.
.
Now, I understand it is not an original design however, just different.

I asked Wyatt's if they sold or knew of them and they hadn't.

Do any of you know what I may b trying to describe?

Later

Bob
