Microsoft Installers don't have the right-click --- Run as Administrator
option, it just says INSTALL.
And I have no idea of what is windows UAC

Try installing as an administrator (right click the installer, run as
administrator) or disable windows UAC

[2012-01-18 07:53:41] lucien_sabre at yahoo dot it

So, what do I do?

It's not moronic to be a beginner, it's moronic to not just try it and learn by
experimentation.

[2012-01-16 15:29:13] lucien_sabre at yahoo dot it

Once I back up the original files, what do I do? I'm a complete beginner
***moron*** in these cases

[2012-01-16 14:53:38] anon at anon dot anon

So back up the install folder first then. But I doubt it can be too strangely
laid out because I've never had a problem just running copies of PHP
arbitrarily from extracted zips.

I tried downloading the zipped version, to simply overwrite the existing files,
but I didn't understand where to put the files - and I'm a bit afraid of
messing
up current installation.

[2012-01-14 22:01:41] anon at anon dot anon

What can I do to upgrade my version?
Download the zip instead. Unzip into the install directory to overwrite the
existing files. Never used the installer so can't really advise about that,
sorry.

Description:

I cannot upgrade my PHP version.
I already had this problem last year, when I tried to upgrade from PHP 5.3.0 to
5.3.5; after a couple of mails, you dismissed me by saying my version wasn't
updated and that I should download the latest version from the Downloads
page...but that was what I had done and it hadn't worked. So, I stuck with
version
3.5.0 and waited.
Today, I tried to download latest version 5.3.9, but I got the same error -
that
you can see in
http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac242/luciensabre/install_error.png.
What can I do to upgrade my version?

Description:

Good evening.

Last year, I installed PHP 5.3.0.

Today, I tried to upgrade to 5.3.5, with the Windows Installer file, but
I couldn't; whenever I tried, it kept showing this tab below.

http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac242/luciensabre/install_error.png

The same message appeared when I tried to delete my old version from my
Control Panel.

I read that, in order to install PHP higher than 5.2, I need a special
Windows Installer toolset...but it's a Microsoft Visual Studio
component, and I don't plan to spend € 189.00 to buy that.

I don't know what else I can do. Could you help me, please?

Thank you since now and bye.
