 * max_input_time
 * memory_limit

Apart from max_execution_time, the things affected by those settings all take
place before your script even gains control -- so changing them in the script
can never have any useful effect. To do any good, they must be set in an
appropriate config file (php.ini, httpd.conf, .htaccess, etc.) as permitted.

[PHP-DB] Quick question

2005-12-08 Thread Chris Payne
Hi there everyone,

How do I set the following items with ini_set()? I looked at the manual but
when I try nothing happens:

*   file_uploads
*   upload_max_filesize
*   max_input_time
*   memory_limit
*   max_execution_time
*   post_max_size

Basically I need to be able to upload 1gig files via FTP which is based on
PHP, when the file uploads successfully it then adds the info to a mysql
database so that the administration program can control the programs
uploaded, but I can't upload any large files only small ones.

Any help would REALLY be appreciated as this is quite urgent and I've
searched the net for examples but couldn't find what I needed.

Help me o-b-1, you're my only hope :-)

Thanks everyone.

Chris

ini_set('max_execution_time', 9600);
that's how you set the max_execution_time, i would assume the rest follow
the same format.

notice the time is in seconds.

 echo OE\n\n¹;

 echo '/title';
 echo '/head';

 echo 'center';
 echo 'img src=images/Rotating.psd';
 echo 'h2';
 echo 'Coming SoonDesktop Pictures (2.83 GB Worth)/h2'; echo
 '/center'; echo '/body';
 echo '/html';

The reason you have it all on one line is because you haven't echoed any
newlines. You have a number of options to do this. As there is no variable
interpolation anywhere in there, you could just break out of PHP and do it
as straight HTML:

...
?
meta http-equiv=content-type content=text/html; charset=utf-8
html
head
title
FilmCanister Desktops
/title
/head
body
center
img src=images/Rotating.psd
h2
Coming SoonDesktop Pictures (2.83 GB Worth)/h2
/center
/body
/html
?php
...

Or you could echo the whole thing in one go (since you can have newlines in
a PHP string):

echo 'meta http-equiv=content-type content=text/html; charset=utf-8
html
head
...
/body
/html
';

If you plan to have variables in there at some point, you can either use
?php echo $var ? segments, or use a heredoc:

echo END
meta http-equiv=content-type content=text/html; charset=utf-8
html
head
body
center
img src=images/$name.psd
...
/body
/html
END;

or, again, you could use a multi-line string -- but this time double-quoted
to give interpolation (but note that you now have to escape all your
embedded double quotes):

echo
meta http-equiv=\content-type\ content=\text/html; charset=utf-8\
html
head
body
center
img src=\images/$name.psd\
...
/body
/html
;

Which route you choose is pretty much personal taste -- personally, if I
have a page that's mostly straight HTML with not much PHP code, I write it
as HTML with embedded PHP snippets, but I know some people think that looks
weird or ugly...!

Cheers!

Thanks for advance.

\n is not converted to a newline unless you use double quotes around the
string.
