RE: [PHP-DEV] Re: [Zend Engine 2] Re: [PHP-DEV] Re: [Zend Engine 2] Re: [PHP-DEV] Re: [Zend Engine 2] namespaces ambiguity

2001-10-01 Thread John Parker

'/' is the only operator I can think of that seems to make any sense
whatsoever here and is not already used as an operator.

I guess you do not divide? :)

Hmm... I'd personally recommend that the namespace operator is ; as no-one
ever uses the semi-colon, do they?

Sorry, couldn't resist. (I'll smack my wrists on your behalf.)

RE: [PHP-DEV] Please..

2001-08-16 Thread John Parker

As I wrote in my last email, what are those issues -- it would be nice
to have them outlined in a comprehensible manner instead of, as now,
they being implicitly refered to in various snide comments. A lot of
people may have an opinion on these issues, and unless they know what
they are, there cannot be a semi-democratic, let alone open way to
 discuss them.

True. This old chestnut's been going on for so long it would be nice to see
a clear, concise, opinion free and inflammatory remark free description of
the issues involved. Hopefully this wouldn't stir things up *again* and
might even result in some sort of positive(ish) step forward.

Ugh, I'm beginning to sound like a marriage counsellor or something...

Any idea when Slashdot's going to be publishing the 'PHP authors in bar room
brawl' story? ;-)

RE: [PHP-DEV] Classes function names - ADT

2001-05-04 Thread John Parker

Hmm... hope Sterling's work on ADT (sweet, sweet ADT, drool, etc.) isn't
delayed due to this. (Doubt it would be, but you never know.)

ADT? (I know what it means, but not in the context of PHP)

It was briefly mentioned on the Weekly Summary for 23/03/01 on the Zend web
site. (http://www.zend.com/zend/week/week34.php) Probably best to ask
Sterling himself for the details, but here's what he responded with when I
asked him:

adt, advanced data types, is built in support for things like linked
lists, b-trees, m-trees, hash's, etc.

-Sterling

As I've said, I can't imagine that case sensitivity will affect this in the
least. (To be more accurate, I hope it doesn't, as I could really do with
access to some of the above real-soon-now. Still, the best things in life
are worth waiting for.)
