The variable 'test' will only show up once you've clicked the submit
button. Did you do that?

hi,
  my system: 
freebsd 4.4 + apache 1.3.20 + php4.0.4pl1
  the php script can't upload parameter.
follow is my compile shell;
cd apache_1.3.20
./configure --prefix==/foo
cd ../php4.0.4pl1
./configure --with-apache=../apache_1.3.20 \
--enable-track-vars 
make ; make install
cd ../apache_1.3.20
./configure --prefix=/foo \
--activate-module=src/modules/php4/libphp4.a
make ; make install

like follow program :
/* tests.php */
html
form action=tests.php method=post
input type=text name=test
input type=submit name=submit value=submit
/form
? echo();?

? echo($test);?
/html

the content of $test if null,

but if u changes as :
/* tests.php */
html
form action=t.php method=post
input type=text name=test
input type=submit name=submit value=submit
/form
? echo();?

? echo($test);?
/html

/*t.php*/
?
echo($test);
?

it run well.
