If there is, it would be news to me. I know of only two ways to do this:

1. ForceType and $_SERVER['PATH_INFO']
2. mod_rewrite

Both require Apache.

I haven't heard of one for IIS, but keep me informed if you or anyone knows of 
a cross platform way...
