In order to edit user notes, you must login. There used to be
an official place to do this but I don't think there is now.
One place you can login at is:

  http://master.php.net/manage/users.php

Once logged in, each user note will include three options: edit,
reject, and delete. Anyone with CVS access can edit user notes.

Philip

[PHP-DOC] #22804 [Opn]: Session page in the manual should not refer to PHPLIB

2003-03-28 Thread philip
 ID: 22804
 Updated by: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Reported By: simon at incutio dot com
 Status: Open
 Bug Type:Documentation problem
 PHP Version: 4.3.1
 New Comment:

Here's the second paragraph of ref.session:

If you are familiar with the session management of
PHPLIB, you will notice that some concepts are
  similar to PHP's session support.

Seems we have ~three options:

A) Leave it alone

B) Create a faq in faq.migration4 that mentions native session support
exists as of php4, and that phplib did offer session support in php3
(it still does too :).
  phplib : http://phplib.sourceforge.net/

C) Delete it.

If worded correctly I prefer (B) because history is good and it's
appropriate, (C) is fine too as there are many applications that offer
non-native session support.

Nitsch, welcome to your black hole. This bug database is for the
language PHP and not some third party script that happens to be written
in PHP.

Regarding your report, how about learning what open source means before
utilizing it. How much did you pay for that software? $0.00. So you
found a bug, great, here are some more appropriate options:

a) Submit the bug to the proper authorities in a useful
   manner (ex. without the baggage).
b) Submit a patch (fix it for the benefit of all users,
   including yourself).
c) Don't submit anything at all.

Printout of your ppphpbb 2.0 Users Guide.
First of all the page numbers are useless! 5 to 11 for over 45 pages???

Second the contents are dismal missing reference to numerous features.
Like Oldest first, Newest first etc. etc.
there is a general absence of explanations as to what can and can not
be modified and set to "default" function. If anything Newest first
woild make a lot more sense than Oldest first. Who want's to look at
old stuff. Unless you are masochistically inclined.
The same goes for "All posts".
Hope this isn't going into the proverbial 'Black hole in the
universe'.
But then nothing would surprise me on the phpbb

The sessions page of the PHP manual compares PHP's session handling to
the session features built in to PHPLib:

http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.session.php

While this may have been relevant a few years ago when PHPLib was in
wide spread use, these days PHPLib is hardly used and the comparison
could prove confusing to new users. I suggest removing the mention of
PHPLib from the description of PHP's session support.

[PHP-DOC] discussion: ease of translation

2003-03-28 Thread Friedhelm Betz
hi,
while translating openssl to german following comes to my mind and I wanna ask
for your opinion. Paremeter is used by four functions, with identical
purpose and description. Instead of repeating the same description 'many'
times, it seems more convinient to have the description in one place and
'include' it where approptiate (similar to entities, but just extensionwise
like openssl/note-openssl-cnf.xml introduced some time ago by wez).
This would result in placing parameter-notext.xml in /refernce/openssl/ and
linking &refernce.openssl.parameter-notext; the files in question.

advantage:
- write once, consistent, use often ;-)
- speeds up translations, translate once and be sure you are done ;-)

disadvantage:
- cluttering of /reference/{extension} main directory

for example:

"/usr/bin/cvs" -z6 diff "openssl-csr-export-to-file.xml"
Index: openssl-csr-export-to-file.xml
