[PHP-DOC] Access to PHP docs

2009-10-08 Thread Damien Seguy

Hi

It seems I'm lacking Karma for the PHP docs, in English and in French.
May I get them back, please?

Best regards,
Damien Seguy.

You still have it, but remember that everything is now in SVN :-)

[PHP-DOC] Getting started with documentation contribution?

2009-10-08 Thread Dan
Hi all,
I'm sure this is a very common question, so apologies if it is. I'm
interested in contributing to the PHP documentation, and was wondering where
would I get started? Are documentation tasks assigned, or do I just request
access and go for it?

Thanks

Dan Cryer

HI Dan,

You can start by reading and giving patches and solve problems things like
that. After sometime you can request access to SVN and begin to commit your
changes yourself. Hope to see you soon as I was absent for a long time
myself.

There is a bunch of newbie guides to get quickly uprunning on this
list.. should be fairly easy to find if you scan through the subjects
quickly.

..And to answer the actual question :): You can browse the open bug
reports from http://bugs.php.net/search.php
There are some bug reports assigned to people, most of them not.

We usually ask for some contribution before giving you commit access..
so send in couple of patches and someone will get tired of committing
stuff for you and will ask you to submit an account request.

Is there anything specially you wanted to look into? New docs for
language features/extensions/whatever? Bug fixing? Cleanups? Rewrites?
Examples? ...?

Re: [PHP-DOC] Getting started with documentation contribution?

2009-10-08 Thread Dan
To be honest, I'm quite happy to work on anything... I've found the
documentation to be such a useful resource, I felt like it was time I gave
something back!
I assume there is a bug category for documentation requiring
rewriting/cleanup? Otherwise, I'm more than happy to be handed some tasks to
do. :)

Thanks

Dan

You make it sound like we are organized.. ;)
http://bugs.php.net/search.php?limit=150direction=DESCcmd=displaystatus=Openbug_type[]=Documentation+problem
lists all open (doc) bug reports.
Other tasks, such as TODOs, cleanups, missing docs, ... are scattered
around SVN files, random places on the wiki, this mailinglists, IRC...

Indeed, I'm using SVN :

AlterWayConsulting:pdo_4d alterway$ svn commit -m 'removing LEFT JOIN
example'

Actually, `fourd` is someone else entirely. Are you attempting to
use someone else's SVN account with your password?

[PHP-DOC] Missing: Documentation for Solr Extension

2009-10-08 Thread Israel Ekpo
I committed the documentation for the solr extension to the SVN repository
about a week ago but it is still not available yet.

Did I make any mistake?

The one that I created locally has the link to the Solr documentation but
the live php site does not.

Hello Israel,

The mirrors update each Friday, whereas the doc box builds 4x daily.
If it's on the doc box then it'll eventually show up on the mirrors.

Soon the world will be blessed with pecl/solr documentation! :)

Thanks for that clarification.

I'd say so.. We do already in couple of other files (timezone.xml
comes to mind) when there is nearly nothing but structural elements in
 the xml.

I don't remember how to mark these files as DO NOT TRANSLATE though
(makes no sense translating them now that they only contain
entities).. Philip?
