From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Operating system: PHP version: Irrelevant PHP Bug Type: Documentation problem Bug description: regex equivalent for ctype_alnum() is wrong
Description: ------------ The manual page for ctype_alnum() - http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.ctype-alnum.php - states that "the function is equivalent to preg_match('/^[a-z0-9]+$/i', $text).". However $ matches a trailing newline as well as the end of the subject; it should be replaced with \z which only matches the end of the subject. Reproduce code: --------------- $s = "abc\n"; var_dump(ctype_alnum($s), preg_match("/^[a-z0-9]+$/i", $s)); Expected result: ---------------- bool(false) int(0) Actual result: -------------- bool(false) int(1) -- Edit bug report at http://bugs.php.net/?id=39024&edit=1 -- Try a CVS snapshot (PHP 4.4): http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=39024&r=trysnapshot44 Try a CVS snapshot (PHP 5.2): http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=39024&r=trysnapshot52 Try a CVS snapshot (PHP 6.0): http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=39024&r=trysnapshot60 Fixed in CVS: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=39024&r=fixedcvs Fixed in release: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=39024&r=alreadyfixed Need backtrace: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=39024&r=needtrace Need Reproduce Script: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=39024&r=needscript Try newer version: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=39024&r=oldversion Not developer issue: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=39024&r=support Expected behavior: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=39024&r=notwrong Not enough info: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=39024&r=notenoughinfo Submitted twice: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=39024&r=submittedtwice register_globals: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=39024&r=globals PHP 3 support discontinued: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=39024&r=php3 Daylight Savings: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=39024&r=dst IIS Stability: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=39024&r=isapi Install GNU Sed: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=39024&r=gnused Floating point limitations: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=39024&r=float No Zend Extensions: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=39024&r=nozend MySQL Configuration Error: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=39024&r=mysqlcfg
