Hi all

I updated the Jitsi server now.
There where quite some changes, so good change that the issues are gone
now, or at least somewhat better.

Please continue this thread if you still see severe issues or any new
problems.
If you have repeated connection issues (with/without) screen sharing,
you may send me your IP and/or a traceroute output via direct email (or
message in IRC), that would be useful to check if its network related or
not.

Right, we did that last time. So let's try both again.

But other reported problems too. So I would rather vote for SSH.

It got the impression, however, that some people cannot use an SSH client. Is
that really the case?

Hi Alex,

for your live coding, SSH-client is nice to watch at.

But I also liked very much, when you showed sth in the Webbrowser,
illustrates the discussed topics nicely.

Would it be possible to provide the read-only ssh-client additionally?

Greetings, Olaf

Hi Alex,
since I cannot attend every PilCon, I would not want to provoke a change
that maybe causes problems for others that attend more frecuently.
Otherwise it would of course be ok to try SSH again. For me, the jitsi
problem was just that the shared screen comes and goes, and was mostly gone

Hi all,

is the problem only the screen sharing? Is just voice and perhaps video OK?

If so, what if we return to the SSH way we used a few times?

Is using an SSH-client all right for everybody? If so, I would suggest we go
with only voice over Jitsi from now on, and I provide the read-only SSH access
for the code views.

Perhaps the easiest is to synchronize in the #picolisp IRC channel?

The last 2 PilCons in special I did not have any problems,
but i did not touch the running conference Firefox at all.
(Firefox 90 or so on LinuxMint)

We could run connection tests, I guess, because the PilCon jitsi seems
to be available 24/7, many thanks to beneroth!

I would be interested in,
which day and time (UTC) would be best for others who are interested in
taking part?

Kind Regards,
Olaf

PS: The PilCons before I often had trouble, especially with Sound or
when interacting myself with the conference browser.
But that was with Firefox < 90 , but Chromium too - all under Linux Mint.

I never saw such problems. I use the Android app for video and voice, and
Chromium for screen sharing.

Hi Mansur,
I had exactly the same issue the last 2 PilCons I attended, on Win10, with
both Edge and Chrome.
It almost makes no sense for me to attend that way, because I do not see
what Alex presents.

I read somewhere if someone with Android connects, the others get problems,
but it seems everybody else was just fine except you and me.

Cheers

Jitsi screen sharing issues

2021-07-21 Thread Mansur Mamkin

Hi all,

During last PilCon I repeatedly lost shared screen after several seconds
of connection (or little more). Helped reconnection only. The same
behavior on Linux+Chrome and MacOS+(Chrome or Safari). Maybe anyone
knows how to solve such issue or some workaround?

Best regards,
