Re: [pinhole-discussion] Pinhole Day
I think Pinhole Day should be Sunday, April 29. It's probably a good compromise between the hemispheres (although I could be a Northern Hemisphere chauvinist). Also, from a purely selfish point of view, it gives me a deadline to finish my Bender 4x5 camera I got last Christmas!! John McAdam
[pinhole-discussion] World-wide Pinhole Day
Dear All, Since pinhole often reveals the delights of randomness and chance, maybe World-wide Pinhole Day could be selected by pulling a date out of a hat, each year. Every holiday I can think of has a rational, repetitive scheme to determine when it happens, even Easter. Perhaps Pinhole Day could be different each year based on a random drawing. This would give all seasons in both hemispheres an equal chance of being honored by the Pinhole Day designation. Over time, the images would reflect the entirety of human and natural experience. Tom

- Original Message - From: Michael Keller m.w.kel...@verizon.net We could use the date of Leonardo da Vinci's birthday, April 15, 1452. Oooh, Tax Day in the US!g But also a SUNDAY this year. You want a TAX day? In Canada an average tax payer works from January/01 to July/05 just to pay all levels of taxes, so what about July/06 so I can celebrate TAX FREEDOM DAY and PINHOLE DAY at once!! two very joyful occasions, I'd say. Maybe notI still like April/29th better. Guillermo

Re: [pinhole-discussion] World Pinhole Day... like Wrinkle in Time?
Thanks for posting the panoramas, Jon. I'm getting interested in this idea and would like to help with it. I can offer the web space and a web application to upload the images plus information about each one into a database. For example, we would probably want to include the photographer's name, country, city or town, and a description about the photo. These would be available for viewing immediately after they are uploaded. I think a simple map of the globe marked with dots from where each person is from would be nice. One could list the photos and text by name, city, country, etc. For anyone who doesn't have access to a scanner, we would need some volunteers to scan other's photos. It would be good to have different folks to organize it, help scan, add dots (links) to a map, etc. These are just some suggestions... - Gregg At 07:51 PM 2/15/01 -0500, you wrote: Hi all, I have been shooting some panoramas lately and discovered the Wrinkle in Time project. Hello everybody! I'm new to the list and so far I like it a lot!! I have followed the discussion of the Happy Pinholer's Day (what a great idea!!!) and I feel there is a need for some kind of summary... 1. We need to decide what day to make the Happy Pinholer's Day. I personally like the thought of choosing the birthday of the list or the birthday of Pinhole Vision as the day (who knows which days these are???) (or maybe the week-end following the birthday in question so that everyone that has a job to do has a chance...) because spring, winter, rain, sunshine whatever: every day is a good day for pinholing, as someone said. The point is that we want to celebrate something (right!?). 2. the photos taken this day should be put on a web site. Who will arrange for this? 3. A book!? even better... 4. have I forgotten something? So firstly: how can we decide what day to make the Happy Pinholer's Day? Is it possible to vote in some way?? Cheers Anna

Hi Zernike Au, I love your Idea!! Beate from Germany * Today is Pinholer's Day. We don't know how it comes. We just know there are a group of people about 1000 (maybe 1200) years ago use a special box with a small hole to capture memory (they call it images), it's amazing that our advance technology can't do that! They use oat tin, box, shoes, pepper, saw blade to capture memories, all these material can only be found in the museum now!!! They come from all over the world and they communicate with an old method call email, they meet together at Pinhole Vision, now we cannot find the location of this country. In this day, photo lovers will put away their expensive camera equipment and capture memories with whatever materials that they can use. So, HAPPY PINHOLER'S DAY to you all.
