Is there a difference in color, clarity, etc. or is what I'm looking at the same thing I'd get if I were to get more prints made? Unless all your negs were perfectly exposed (very common with pinhole photos ::giggle::) then the proof will not always be indicative - since the film has a +- which is greater than the paper does. Also some labs print through the clear neg holders. You can look at the negs - find one on the proof that looks good and look at the shadows and highlights in the neg. then look at the other negs and see how they look comparitively --

If a custom lab makes a print it should be better. If a machine makes the print it could be better or worse than your proof. An advantage in ordering an individual print is that you can ask the lab to crop it as you'd like it. Thus, a square negative might look great in an 8x10 print...if properly cropped. Joel

Re: [pinhole-discussion] Not at Home/New image with new camera.
wow, bizarre! now I see why someone would put a hole in the END of a tube.. I was thinking people were putting a hole in the flat end of the tube and the paper/film on the other flat end... I didn't consider wrapping the paper around as you did. pretty cool! From: james kellar kell...@hotmail.com Reply-To: pinhole-discussion@p at ??? Does anyone have any suggestions/advice: (1) calculating exposures, (2) caring for the film in the field, or (3) anything else I should know? Thanks My suggestion is to use a normal dilution of PermaWash to clear the film instead of the recommended sodium sulfite. It is easier because it's not gritty, it's more accessible and dilutes instantly. Good Luck! leezy

Re: [pinhole-discussion] Gregg on the cover of Pinhoel Journal
The magazine hasn't made it to Japan yet but I patiently (like a pinhole long exposure) for my copy to arrive. Congrats Gregg even though I haven't seen it yet! Ed Many great shots. I enjoy the Contemporary Pinhole Photography # X issues because they contain such a wide variety of interesting photos. Great work by everyone involved! [pinhole-discussion] 35 mm films pinhole conversion, oatmeal box question
Hello: What 35mm films have people in this group experimented with for pinhole purposes? The hardest thing about converting my old Kodak SLR to pinhole has been mounting the pinhole! I think I have it figured out...once I find some reciprocity data for 35 mm film, I'll go try the camera out. Lastly, a dumber than average question...with oatmeal box cameras, is the focal plane on the concave side, or a flat end? Thanks Murray
