Re: [pinhole-discussion] request for off-list discussion of pinhole view camera with homebrew lens optionlens

2001-12-22 Thread R Duarte
I think he moved to France. He brought that camera in one day but I never
got a good look at it. I'd love to make one like the one that he had - the
photos that I saw were great! If I remember correctly it was basically the
same as a foamcore pinhole camera except that it had a paper lens turret
that was adjustable for different focal lengths. I've looked for
instructions on making something simple(?) like that but I haven't found
them. I've checked amazon every so often for alan's book - I'm going to go
buy it now that I know it's out.

Thanks,
Rob

Alan Greene gave classes on pinhole photography at the Cambridge Center for
Adult Education in Cambridge, MA. I took one a couple years ago. Besides
pinhole, we made 8x10 cameras with simple lenses, just like old box
cameras. I think he got the lenses from Edmund Scientific. We never
used anything as complicated as a two element lens. I haven't heard from
him in a while so I don't know if he is still in the Cambridge area.

Is there anyone here who has any experience with simple 2-element lenses
with insertable Waterhouse stops willing email off list about some of the

Thanks

2001-12-21 Thread Uptown Gallery
Hello:

Excuse the partial diversion from pinhole - I am thinking about what to do
with an 18" x 24" bellows I picked up - definitely pinhole first, but I
would like to have the option of experiementing with a lens - and the only
affordable way would be a homebrew lens.

Is there anyone here who has any experience with simple 2-element lenses
with insertable Waterhouse stops willing email off list about some of the
basics of such a camera?

Thanks

Murray
