Hey,

does the problem still happens in evolution 2.30+ ?

Cheers,

[Evolution] Bug#586653: evolution-exchange: crashes after entering exchange passwd

2010-06-21 Thread thah...@t-online.de

Package: evolution-exchange
Version: 2.30.1-2+b1
Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***

It's a new evolution release and as usual exchange doesn't work anymore:
After entering the exchange passwd I get something like:

(evolution:4585): e-utils-WARNING **: GConf error:
Type mismatch: Expected list, got string

(evolution:4585): e-utils-WARNING **: GConf error:

em_junk_sa_finalize
evolution: ../../src/xcb_io.c:249: process_responses: Assertion `(((long)
(dpy-last_request_read) - (long) (dpy-request)) = 0)' failed.

Sometimes I get the
GConf error:
Type mismatch: Expected list, got string

message in a popup, sometimes it is just on the terminal where evolution
has been started.

If there is anything I can do to further debug this issue, please let me
know.

Every time I try to run evolution, it craches with the following stack trace.
This makes it unusable. It used to work correctly before. I have 2 to 3 seconds
before it craches to stop it and make it work offline. In offline mode it will
not crache.

Attached is an example. Not wanting to expose others email addresses
I very carefully changed the sending addresses to @example.com but in
such a way that I don't think will affect the result.

That's a bit useless. I mean, could you sent me and the bug an outlook
meeting request, directly, so I can see what it gives in evo?

Hmm... That was exactly what you had asked for. And no I can't
actually send you one from myself. I am not an Outlook user. I have
no exchange server here. So I can't generate any meeting requests
from Outlook. I was using Evolution to receive meeting requests from
Outlook / Exchange. But I will ask someone to send you one directly.
Expect to get a random meeting request from a random person. Or I
will construct one manually for you.

Is there some news about this? It seems that during 2.22 time there was
a problem when you had the “Prefer plain text” plugin enabled. This
should be fixed, but you might want to disable it just to test. And
retry in evolution 2.30 so we have recent status.

Cheers,

The problem still exists with evolution 2.26.1.1-2 but occurs more
seldomly. It only happens if the initial scan for all vFolders hangs
 (see bug #526218).

Does this still happens? If so, could you comment directly on upstream
bug report like asked at
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=581090#c8 ?

Cheers,

moving works when in all other display modes, though it sometimes leaves
a blank calendar display (which continues to work once the
day/week/month is changed back and forth).

Hey, sorry for delay.

As always in crasher cases, please open bug directly upstream, providing
a backtrace.

Evolution shows message threading in a quite confusing way.

Messages without a thread and messages with a thread are indented differently,
so that the visual result isn't clear.

Now you can see something like the following in the subject column:

Subjet 1
 subject 2
Re: subject 2

The information that such a presentation trasmit is that the message with
subject subject 2 is part of the thread of subject 1.

I think the correct way to show threading would be the following:

  Subjet 1
 subject 2

 Hi,
Both directions lead to a crash, updating the gtkhtml-editor-common

The dependencies to the -common package should probably be exact, or

 not allow major version differences.

Since the upgrade to gtkhtml3.14-19, evolution crashes when replying to
an email or composing a new email. This obviously renders evolution mostly
unusable. The crash being correlated to opening an editor emphasizes the
relationship to the gtkhtml upgrade.

Hey,

can you still reproduce this in Debian unstable? If so, could you open a
bug on upstream bugzilla, providing a backtrace?

Cheers,

Since the upgrade to gtkhtml3.14-19, evolution crashes when replying to
an email or composing a new email. This obviously renders evolution mostly
unusable. The crash being correlated to opening an editor emphasizes the
relationship to the gtkhtml upgrade.

Hi,

I've been having this issue that after logging out of GNOME, the
bonobo-activation-server (and evolution-data server also) are still
running. This causes issues if trying to configure keyboard stuff, in
gnome, for example.

The only solution seems to be to kill all the processes left running by
that user (e-d-s, a gconf process and bonobo). This looks a lot like:

Indeed, it does appear on html messages, so I guess it's related to
 gtkhtml.

It now seems that the zoom setting (text+header) is kept across viewed

Since the upgrade to gtkhtml3.14-19, evolution crashes when replying to
an email or composing a new email. This obviously renders evolution mostly
unusable. The crash being correlated to opening an editor emphasizes the
relationship to the gtkhtml upgrade.

Thank you for the fast response.

You see it was stuck in Cairo. From here I guess this has something
to do with the Clearlooks GNOME theme. Could you please choose another
theme (simpler ones like Mist) and try again?

Also this issue may be better handled if you report it to the upstream
bugzilla (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/), providing your steps to
reproduce this issue along with the debug log. I have briefly searched
this in upstream bugzilla but can't find any similar issue. Could you
please file a new bug in upstream bugzilla with the logs you
found. Also please keep me in the CC list.

Any news about this?

Hey,

I don't know anything about LDAP/NTLM support in Evolution, but seeing
the bug age and the fact that it was already for supporting old servers,
if you still carry the patch, I guess it can be dropped now. I'm not
sure if the bug lies in eds or evo-exchange though.

What exactly would you need from us to close this bug?

Yes, this is not a bug. Killing arbitrary processes of random user isn't
exactly a good behavior from an administrator. So no, killing evo
processes when uninstalling is not an option. But it's not exactly
dramatic, though.

[Evolution] Bug#499220: disagree

2010-06-21 Thread Yves-Alexis Perez
Sorry, but I have to disagree about that patch.

Current description might maybe be improved, but I don't think adding
that kind of precision would help an user. It says that eds manages
mail, calendar, addressbook, tasks and memo information, and that's
exactly what it does. There's nothing in the desc saying it's specific
to the evolution suite, and yes, other processes do use it.

No need to change anything there.

Cheers,

Stay tuned, I'll check and report back.

I'm still not sure about what to do, but I won't do before Squeeze
freeze anyway, so maybe for the 2.32 / 3.0 serie.

Tab characters in description fields are stored in the .ics file as a
\t escape sequence, which is not part of the RFC5545 standard (see
 http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5545#section-3.3.11)

Could you check with 2.30 and, if reproducible, submit the issue
upstream?

[Evolution] Bug#457374: update

2010-06-21 Thread Russ Allbery
Yves-Alexis Perez cor...@debian.org writes:

Thank you for the followup! I haven't had much time for a while to work
on the Debian OpenLDAP packages, so I'm copying the package maintenace
list with this information. This is in reference to the patch that the
Debian OpenLDAP packages were carrying to add additional library APIs for
NTLM authentication (specifically ldap_ntlm_bind).
