Well this seems only due to excessive optimism about args parsing. Old version accepted something like: gdal2tiles.py [-title Title] [-publishurl http://yourserver/dir/] [-nogooglemaps] [-noopenlayers] [-nokml] [-googlemapskey KEY] [-forcekml] [-v] input_file [output_dir] but current (= 1.6) has a different syntax.
