Bug#443964: java-package: javaws also crashes

2007-09-26 Thread Vincent Lönngren
Package: java-package
Followup-For: Bug #443964

The reason in my case is that I simple didn't know about the prepackages
version. Anyway, it doesn't make a difference in this case - I've
installed sun-java6-jre and the same thing keeps happening. I have some
new information however: javaws -viewer also crashes. I conclude that
there is a problem with javaws.

Attached you will find the BugBuddy report from javaws crashing, minus
the .xsession errors which didn't contain anything useful and did
contain some personal information.

I hope this new information is helpful.

Package: java-package
Version: 0.35
Severity: normal

Starting yesterday my browsers crash whenever something Java related
happens. BugBuddy doesn't recognise the responsible application, but
creates a bugreport which contains a backtrace with mostly java related
stuff in it. I've tried it with both Epiphany and Iceweasel, so I'm
guessing the fault is in the java package. The JRE is SUN version 6
update 2.

BugBuddy bugreport attached.

Bug#443964: java-package: javaws also crashes

These bugs are not in java-package. The bug is in SUN JDK packaged by
java-package. Please try the latest package from SUN and report the bugs
to SUN when not fixed yet.

I will close that bug now as we can do nothing about that proprietary
software. Please reopen when you think the bug is in java-package - when
java-package does something wrong with packaging SUN JDK.

Sorry for that bad news.

Cheers,
Michael

Vincent,
Thanks once again for your excellent detail and diligence in this
bug report. We have decided it would be best to reassign this bug to
the pre-packaged Sun Java 6 JRE, where it can also be tagged as a bug
belonging to the upstream part of the package. This is the most
appropriate route to get the bug information to the persons ultimately
able to do something about it.
One other piece of information may be helpful in troubleshooting
this issue. Could you provide the URL you are accessing when Java is
invoked and crashes the browser? Thanks in advance for your response.

Regards,

libjmathtex-java_0.7~pre-2_amd64.changes is NEW

2007-09-26 Thread Debian Installer
(new) libjmathtex-java-doc_0.7~pre-2_all.deb optional doc
TeX and MathML library for Java (API documentation)
The JMathTeX library provides a set of Java classes for displaying (complex)
mathematical formulas as part of a Java application. Some use cases are:
  * Displaying text with embedded formulas (in an editor pane, a JavaHelp
page, ...)
  * Make a combo box which provides the user with a choice between various
formulas.
  * Have a slider with ticks that display their values not as decimal numbers,
but as exact values, e.g., fractions, square roots or any combination of
these.
  * Display the formula together with the graph of a function.
The library uses the typesetting algorithms of the well-known TeX and LaTeX
systems and therefore displays formulas in a very professional looking way.
Formulas are Java-objects that can be built from scratch (by combining smaller
formulas in several ways) and from LaTeX strings. There is also limited
 support for MathML.
 .
This package contains the Javadoc API documentation.
