Bug#850921: openjfx version for openjdk 9.0

Hi Shirish,

As I said last week, I plan to upgrade the openjfx package after the
Stretch release, once the OpenJDK 9 transition starts. But if someone
else (you?) wants to work on this update sooner I'll be happy to sponsor
his work.

Bug#771514: Is the state of affairs the same upstream ?

2017-01-19 Thread shirish शिरीष
Hi all,

While there were updates, there doesn't seem to be anything happening here.

I can see the warning still -

─[$] javafxpackager

javafxpackager has been renamed javapackager
The original file may be removed in a future release in lieu of javapackager.
Please update your scripts.

So it seems that there are still some bits missing.

Oops, not a programmer here. I mis-understood. I mis-read that you
would be making a release to experimental soonish.

So I'll wait.

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package modifies conffiles.
This is forbidden by the policy, see
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-files.html#s-config-files

10.7.3: "[...] The easy way to achieve this behavior is to make the
configuration file a conffile. [...] This implies that the default
version will be part of the package distribution, and must not be
modified by the maintainer scripts during installation (or at any
other time)."

Note that once a package ships a modified version of that conffile,
dpkg will prompt the user for an action how to handle the upgrade of
this modified conffile (that was not modified by the user).

Further in 10.7.3: "[...] must not ask unnecessary questions
(particularly during upgrades) [...]"

If a configuration file is customized by a maintainer script after
having asked some debconf questions, it may not be marked as a
conffile. Instead a template could be installed in /usr/share and used
by the postinst script to fill in the custom values and create (or
update) the configuration file (preserving any user modifications!).
This file must be removed during postrm purge.
ucf(1) may help with these tasks.
See also http://wiki.debian.org/DpkgConffileHandling

In https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2012/09/msg00412.html and
followups it has been agreed that these bugs are to be filed with
severity serious.

debsums reports modification of the following files,
from the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

 /etc/jspwiki/jspwiki.properties

cheers,

Andreas

Package: jspwiki
Severity: normal
User: pkg-java-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: oldlibs libcommons-httpclient-java

Hi,

jspwiki depends on libcommons-httpclient-java, which is obsolete and was
replaced by libhttpclient-java. It has reached EOL status in 2011! It is no
longer supported upstream [1] and was affected by multiple security issues in
the recent past. jspwiki should be ported to the new libhttpclient-java
version, so that we can remove the old, unmaintained one. Please forward this
issue upstream, if you can't migrate the package yourself.

We would like to see libcommons-httpclient-java removed during the Stretch
release cycle but due to the large number of reverse-dependencies the outcome
depends more than ever on your help.

Please help us to accomplish this goal. We will bump this issue to important
when the list of rdeps is getting smaller and we think that the removal is
possible. We will eventually raise the severity to serious when the number
of rdeps is small.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask and contact us on

debian-j...@list.debian.org

Markus

Hi,

Your package includes some files that seem to lack sources
in prefered forms of modification:
src/webdocs/scripts/posteditor.js
src/webdocs/scripts/mootools.js

According to Debian Free Software Guidelines [1] (DFSG) #2:
"The program must include source code, and must allow distribution
in source code as well as compiled form."

In some cases this could also constitute a license violation for some
copyleft licenses such as the GNU GPL. (While sometimes the licence
allows not to ship the source, the DFSG always mandates source code.)

In order to solve this problem, you could:
1. add the source files to "debian/missing-sources" directory.
2. repack the origin tarball and add the missing source files to it.

Both way satisfy the requirement to ship all source code. The second option
might be preferable due to the following reasons [2]:
 - Upstream can do it too and you could even supply a patch to them, thus
full filling our social contract [3], see particularly §2.
 - If source and non-source are in different locations, ftpmasters may
miss the source and (needlessly) reject the package.
 - The source isn't duplicated in every .diff.gz/.debian.tar.* (though
this only really matters for larger sources).

You could also ask debian...@lists.debian.org or #debian-qa for more
guidance.

these files exist too (physically not symlinked) at:

When creating a new user (that is: trying to) the following error occurs:

Obviously this can be fixed by providing rights in

feel this package is not correctly configured for user/group management out
of the box. Should this not be done at installation or have a big fat
warning in the deb install process to do this manually?

Olaf

Bug#851853: Removed package(s) from unstable

2017-01-19 Thread Debian FTP Masters
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

   jspwiki |2.8.0-7 | source, all

--- Reason ---
ROM; RC buggy, low popcon and unmaintained
--

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive and will not propagate to any mirrors until the next
dinstall run at the earliest.

Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is
really needed, please contact them if this should be the case.

We try to close bugs which have been reported against this package

I was browsing today and don't see it either in experimental or elsewhere.

tracker.debian.org/openjfx

I also viewed the git tracker to see if you might have uploaded it
there and not released but even there it doesn't seem to be IIUC -

https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-java/openjfx.git/log/

Look forward to knowing your plans.

Package: androidsdk-tools
Version: 22.2+git20130830~92d25d6-3
Severity: serious

The adb binary seems to have migrated from the android-tools-adb package
to the adb package provided by the android-platform-system-core source
package.
The package libandroidsdk-ddmlib-java (which is part of
androidsdk-tools) still depends on android-tools-adb which makes it not
possible to decruft android-tools without breaking this package.
Please replace the depends line for libandroidsdk-ddmlib-java.

I had a velleity to do something about jspwiki but it hasn't
materialized. I don't use jspwiki nor plan to use it, nobody has
enquired about the package for years and there are good alternatives. I
think it's preferable to remove it until someone really motivated steps in.
