2016-12-03 Thread Vincent Smeets
Package: freeplane
Version: 1.5.16-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hallo,

Freeplane has been working for me some days/weeks ago. This morning, I
started freeplane again and it wont start anymore. To be sure, I also
removed my local settings by removing the directory .config/freeplane,
but that didn't help either.
When I start freeplane, it opens an empty main X11-frame and then only a
dialog box with the excpetion java.lang.NoSuchFieldError. There is no
other UI element shown. I can only exit the command by closing the
window.

Here I started freeplane from the command line. It shows you the log
output and the raised exception.
My machine is configured for Debian/Testing.

Regards,
Vincent Smeets

Thank you Samuel,

that did solve my problem.
After commenting out the line in the file accessibility.properties as you
described, freemind starts without any problems.

Bug#802701: freemind: Freemind doesn't start with OpenJDK-8

2015-11-01 Thread Vincent Smeets
Hallo,

further investigation shows that it's probably not a problem of freemind,
but of OpenJDK or X11 or something else.

OpenJDK-7 gives sometimes problems too. Sometimes I also see an error
message like:
Xlib: extension "XInputExtension" missing on display ":0".
although the command xdpyinfo shows that the extension XInputExtension is
available in :0.

I have attached a stack trace of the time where all the threads are waiting
for something and the application hangs.

I don't think that this is a freemind problem. You can close this bug and I
will further investigate the problem and open a new one for the correct
package

Thanks,
Vincent

Bug#802701: freemind: Freemind doesn't start with OpenJDK-8

2015-10-22 Thread Vincent Smeets
Package: freemind
Version: 0.9.0+dfsg2-1
Severity: normal

Hallo,

I have installed OpenJDK-7 and OpenJDK-8.
Freemind is starting normally with OpenJDK-7 but hangs in the splash
screen when started with OpenJDK-8.

When I start freemind without any settings
  $ freemind
it will use OpenJDK-8 (from java-wrapper) and doesn't start completely.
The spalsh screen will appear as an gray rectangle but with no image in
it. The application will hang at that point. A ^C or kill -TERM doesn't
work I can only recover by a kill -KILL to the JVM.
The command:
  $ JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-8-openjdk-amd64 freemind
gives the same behaviour.

In contrast to that, the command:
  $ JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-amd64 freemind
works normally and starts the application in a normal way.

Regards,
Vincent

Bug#696227: /usr/bin/make-jpkg: Java build number in the directory name.

2012-12-18 Thread Vincent Smeets
Package: java-package
Version: 0.51~exp1
Severity: minor
File: /usr/bin/make-jpkg

Hallo,

I have manually installed this version of java-package (from
experimental) in my Debian stable environment. to be able to install the
oracle java JDK in a debian way on my machine.

The packages generated by make-jpkg are oracle-java6-jdk (version: 6.38)
and oracle-java7-jdk (version: 7.10). The package names contain only the
major java version numbers, not the build numbers.

Installing those packages results however in the directories
/usr/lib/jvm/jdk-6.38-oracle-x64 and /usr/lib/jvm/jdk-7.10-oracle-x64.
The problem is that every time a new version of the JDK is installed, it
will be installed in a new directory. This means that after every
update, I will have to review and update all the references to the JDK
directory. I case there are a lot of references or a lot of users
defining the directory name in there own profile, an update will result
into a broken system.

My sugestion is to remove the build number from the directory name e.g.:
/usr/lib/jvm/jdk-6-oracle-x64 and /usr/lib/jvm/jdk-7-oracle-x64.
An other option (which I don't like) would be to provide a symbolic link
named /usr/lib/jvm/jdk-6-oracle-x64 to the full directory name.

Vincent Smeets

Bug#635210: libeclipselink-java: META-INF/services/javax.persistence.spi.PersistenceProvider is missing

2011-07-23 Thread Vincent Smeets
Package: libeclipselink-java
Version: 2.1.0-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hello,

the downloaded package is missing the file
META-INF/services/javax.persistence.spi.PersistenceProvider in the jar file
/usr/share/java/eclipselink.jar. Using the library in a java JPA programm
reports an error that this file is missing.

In the binary package, the file is missing. I have however extracted the
debian sources (apt-get source eclipselink) and build (dpkg-buildpackage)
the package myselfi. In that version, the file is present. I think it is a
problem from the build environment at the moment the official binary packages
were build.
The file build.xml correctly defines the service in the jar target.

Please rebuild the package in a correct environment.

Vincent Smeets

 Hi

Those of you who have experienced this problem, could you please write
which version of xulrunner you have and whether it fixed it?

Those you still experiencing the problem, please check if your version
of xulrunner is listed here[1] next to the matching version of eclipse.
At least xulrunner 1.9.1 have broken backwards compatibility[2].
