Bug#336338: eclipse doesn't start - success!

2005-11-04 Thread David N. Welton
I got it! I replaced that file, and then erased my .eclipse directory
on a whim, then restarted, and now it's working! Thanks:-)

It doesn't work - I'll mail you anyway:-/ The error is the same as before.

I'm going to uninstall everything and try again, and see if there is
something that was left sitting around...

This is probably the cause of the problem:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/tmp$ unzip org.eclipse.swt.gtk.linux.ppc_3.1.1.jar
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/tmp$ less META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/tmp$ grep x86 META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
Bundle-SymbolicName: org.eclipse.swt.gtk.linux.x86; singleton:=true
Eclipse-PlatformFilter: (& (osgi.ws=gtk) (osgi.os=linux) (osgi.arch=x86))

I tried this, and it has no effect one way or the other.

I have troubles to reproduce your problem. Can you remove your ~/.eclipse
directory, and look if it change your situation. And please backup
your ~/.eclipse
directory before, so if it is the reason for your problem, then we can
maybe solve it.

Thank you, Stephan Michels.

Yes.

ls -la /usr/lib/eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.swt.gtk.linux.ppc_3.1.1.jar
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root 35 2005-10-29 11:29
/usr/lib/eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.swt.gtk.linux.ppc_3.1.1.jar ->
../../../share/java/swt-gtk-3.1.jar

Tried it again just for the heck of it, and it's still not starting.
Doesn't start from the command line either - it mentions that it finds
the java-gcj as a jvm and gives me the same error.

Thankyou,

Do you have libswt3.1-gtk-java and libswt3.1-gtk-jni
with the version 3.1.1-3 installed?

Do following sym. link exist?
$ ls -la /usr/lib/eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.swt.gtk.linux.ppc_3.1.1.jar
