Thank you, this is caused by maven-debian-helper, it shouldn't be
installed and it tricks debhelper into running the tests with Maven,
which fail. I'll upload a fix shortly.

I've uploaded the original build log:

I can still reproduce this in my builder:

Note that the builder has a weird set of packages installed; it's not
quite what pbuilder would install as it uses apt(1) for resolution, and
has some packages pre-installed for performance reasons. It is otherwise
a clean environment, though.

The full installed package list is at the top of the log.
