[Pkg-javascript-devel] RC bugs

2019-02-21 Thread Xavier
Buster reminder
---

  - acorn:
- #914004: fixed in experimental, not in unstable "acorn build
   depends on cruft package node-unicode-10.0.0"
- #915022 introduced in experimental: "fails to upgrade from sid:
  unable to install new version of '/usr/share/doc/node-
  acorn-node/README.md': No such file or directory

Buster freeze comes on March 12; since Feb 12, packages have to wait at
least 10 days in unstable before migration.

So, fixing these bugs seems urgent.

Source: node-es6-promise
Version: 4.2.5-1
Severity: serious

On a buster docker image:
```
# apt-get build-dep node-es6-promise
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 builddeps:node-es6-promise : Depends: webpack but it is not going to be
installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
```

Reason is that there is a build-dep on both webpack and uglifyjs which
indirectly end up conflicting.

Seems that dropping the uglifyjs b-d still at least makes the package build

Ahh, issue is link in Javascript to map file.

I mistook the issue to be links in map file to source javascript.

Also, I misremembered Bootstrap4 as being one of the packages I had
recently streamlined regarding source-mapping. I am happy that you
mention underscore - that's one of those I looked at recently :-)

I have now removed myslf as uploader of bootstrap4 to reduce risk of
similar confusion in future. Sorry for the noise!

[Pkg-javascript-devel] Bug#922824: Bug#922824: sourceMappingURL in minified js seems to point to the wrong location

Hi, thanks for looking into this. I think I've been unclear: the problem
is not when serving the javascript files, but when the browser looks for
the .map file.

In particular, the pointer to the map file in the .min.js, seems to
point to a .map file that is in the dist/js/ directory relative to the
bootstrap.min.js file:

$ tail -1 /usr/share/javascript/bootstrap4/js/bootstrap.min.js
//# sourceMappingURL=dist/js/bootstrap.js.map

I would understand that that comment should rather be:
//# sourceMappingURL=bootstrap.js.map

For example, looking at /usr/share/javascript assets in my system,
bootstrap4 seems to be the only one that does not point to .map files
just next to the minified versions:

$ find -L  /usr/share/javascript/ -type f | xargs grep sourceMappingURL
/usr/share/javascript/xterm/xterm.js://# sourceMappingURL=xterm.js.map
/usr/share/javascript/xterm/xterm.js://#

Here is a way to reproduce the issue:

$ mkdir /tmp/922824
$ cd /tmp/922824
$ cp -Lr /usr/share/javascript/  .
$ cat > index.html  <

Test
It works!

$ python3 -m http.server 8000

Visit localhost:8000 with chrome: it works!, then press F12 to open the
javascript console: it triggers loading the .map file. The http.server
log that I get is this:

[Pkg-javascript-devel] Bug#922831: Uninstallable build dependencies

2019-02-21 Thread Sjoerd Simons
Source: node-es6-promise
Version: 4.2.5-1
Severity: serious

On a buster docker image:
```
# apt-get build-dep node-es6-promise
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 builddeps:node-es6-promise : Depends: webpack but it is not going to be
installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
```

Reason is that there is a build-dep on both webpack and uglifyjs which
indirectly end up conflicting.

Seems that dropping the uglifyjs b-d still at least makes the package build

Hi,

Trying to do a bunch of backports, I came across this issue.

node-utilities build-depends: node-jake
node-jake depends: node-utilities

So, it's impossible to build node-utilities, because it needs node-jake,
which cannot be installed, because it depends on node-utilities, which
isn't build.

This cycle has to be broken, otherwise it makes it very hard for porters
to bootstrap the rebuild of node-utilities & node-jake.

Cheers,

Thomas Goirand (zigo)

[Pkg-javascript-devel] Bug#922824: sourceMappingURL in minified js seems to point to the wrong location

2019-02-21 Thread Enrico Zini
Package: libjs-bootstrap4
Version: 4.2.1+dfsg2-2
Severity: normal

Hello,

Thank you for packaging bootstrap.

The minified bootstrap4 javascript file is currently distributed in
these two paths:

  /usr/lib/nodejs/bootstrap/dist/js/bootstrap.min.js
  /usr/share/javascript/bootstrap4/js/bootstrap.min.js

and they come with a sourceMappingURL of:

  //# sourceMappingURL=dist/js/bootstrap.js.map

If I make one of those paths accessible on the web and include bootstrap
with something like:

Then I see the browser make this failed request on my HTTP server:

  404 GET /static/bootstrap4/js/dist/js/bootstrap.js.map

I tried to look up how sourceMappingURL works:

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/38427991/which-is-the-base-url-of-sourcemappingurl-relative-from-html-or-js

and it looks to me like bootstrap.min.js should contain something like
"sourceMappingURL=bootstrap.js.map" to have it being found alongside the
.min.js version.
