Package: amarok-utils
Version: 2.8.0-1
Severity: minor

In version 2.8, /usr/bin/amzdownloader ("AMZ Downloader") was moved from amarok
to amarok-utils. This should be reflected in the extended description, which currently
reads:

This package contains command line utilities that are typically used by Amarok
media player but might also be useful on systems without Amarok installed.
They are designed to be lightweight as they do not depend on KDE libraries.

Currently the package contains the following utilities:
  - amarokcollectionscanner - scans audio files, collects information from
file tags and prints it in the structured XML format.
  - amarok_afttagger - a helper program which writes/removes custom tags
to/from media files required for embedded "Amarok File Tracking".

Package: amarok
Version: 2.8.0-1
Severity: minor
Tags: upstream

Since version 2.8, Amarok features the Analyzer applet, allowing
"visualization" of songs, as Winamp and WMP do:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_visualization

This is supposedly working with Phonon's GStreamer backend, but it doesn't work
here, where I use the VLC backend. When a song is playing, the applet doesn't
do anything in Blocky style. In the Balls style, nothing. Disco shows
something. but apparently unrelated to what is playing.
Strangely, Blocky does something, but only when no song plays.

A patch limits occurences by preventing the Analyzer applet from showing by
default:

* Backport upstream patch which avoids adding analyzer applet by default if
Phonon backend does not support it.
  Patch backport_dont_add_analyzer_when_not_supported.diff

README.Debian also mentions the problem:

At the time of writing (phonon-backend-gstreamer at 4.6.3 and
phonon-backend-vlc at 0.6.2), Phonon GStreamer backend has more features than
Phonon VLC backend. Therefore, some Amarok features might not work when Phonon
VLC backend is in use and you will need to switch to GStreamer one. For
example:

* Spectrum Analyzer applet
* Equalizer
* Fade-out

are known not to work.

However, the applet can still be added when using the VLC backend, and quietly
displays as if it was functional.

Not setting normal severity, as this is not a regression and the feature is
optional.

Package: amarok
Version: 2.8.0-1
Severity: normal

Amarok 2.8 now offers to shuffle the playlist using a keyboard shortcut, Ctrl+H
by default: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208061
Whatever I set this shortcut to, Amarok crashes when I use it. Strangely,
shuffling by clicking (via the arrow menu at the top of the playlist) doesn't
crash and works.

This reproduces every time, with 2 users out of 2 tested. This is probably an
upstream bug, but I didn't find a ticket there.

It seems something unrelated went wrong with that build because 2.8.0-1 has
just built fine for me in kfbsd-amd64 porterbox (against libimobiledevice4).
Anyway, I'm going to upload 2.8.0-2 in a couple of moments so there is no need
to retry -1 build.

Do you use an HTTP proxy of some kind to access the network? Is it PAC [1]
based? If so, I guess you can avoid the crash by switching away from PAC.

Could you reproduce the problem with libqtwebkit4-dbg installed?
