We're (as in Raúl and myself) working hard on two fronts to get that fixed. One is to remove all dependencies on OpenSSL (because of some limitations that imposes on licensing and because Qt offers all the required things already) the other is relicensing all the files with incompatible licenses. Raúl and myself were busy with preparing the next package, which we think, we've ready now, especially because it would fix two bugs of severity grave [0] and important [1]. The only issue remaining - from your POV - would be, that we still didn't sync the Hg back to the SVN. The reason for this are problems with hgsubversion [2], but Raúl is working on this issue. Still we think, that all the improvements of KVIrc and the two closed bugs would make a good point, why we should release a new package. Therefore I'd like to kindly ask you to grab the latest source package (actually you also find an i386 and amd64 binary package there) from my website at [3] and upload it into Debian. [Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#535873: Bug#535873: kvirc-dev: bashism in /bin/sh script
tag 535873 + upstream fixed-upstream thanks Dear Raphael, the problem you've reported was fixed with upstream revision 3305 and 3306 [0]. The next package of KVIrc should contain that fix. [Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#534291: kvirc-data/3.4/MOREINFO: update-alternatives doesn't ignore certain errors anymore
tag 534291 = moreinfo thanks Dear Francesco, we have investigated the problem and found two issues, which - when combined - will probably lead to the described problem. 1. The path in kvirc-data.postinst [0] is wrong (»3.4« vs. »3.4.0«). 2. Since dpkg 1.15.x has entered testing, update-alternatives behaves differently/stricter in Squeeze. Now the question is: which version of dpkg do you use? 1.15.0 or later? If so, could you try to install the KVIrc package from Sid and report back, if that fixes the problem? Thank you in advance for reporting the bug and answering above questions! I can read/answer it, when I've the time to do so. I see IRC as a fast channel which I use on occasion, I might even be online every day, but probably are only reacting if I'm highlighted (because then I get notified by KVIrc). > I like to send everything though lists.alioth so everyone knows what is going > on. If it's the wish of the KDE Extras team to be kept on loop on all those beginner questions I'm likely to ask, then we can o it through the list. [Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#530311: kvirc: KVIrc should suggest xterm
Package: kvirc Version: 2:3.4.0-3 Severity: minor Dear maintainer, using KVIrc for a few days I've noticed, that some functions like tracerouting a users IP need xterm to work (if xterm isn't installed you get errors like (translated to English it should look like the following): > Warning: execution of 'xterm' failed followed by the name of the script which tried to call xterm (in this case »hostpopup.item5«)). Please consider adding xterm to Suggests: and maybe mention the reason in the long description so interested users can decide if they want this functionality or not.
