Package: mediatomb
Version: 0.11.0-3
Severity: minor

Hi.

I couldn't find any readme, manpage or other similar instructions in package
mediatomb, for instance in /usr/share/doc/mediatomb that could explain how to
use it once installed.

Thanks in advance for adding some (maybe minimal) docs.

Best regards,

In Ubuntu, we've applied the attached patch to achieve the following:

  * Merge from debian unstable, Ubuntu remaining changes:
- Add OR depends on abrowser.
  * Add glibc-2.10_fix.patch patch to prevent FTBFS with glibc-2.10.
  * debian/config.xml.dist: Allow playing the mkv files that haven't
"video/x-matroska" as mimetype (LP: #417533).

We thought you might be interested in doing the same.

Is there any reason why mediatomb has to be started after all other init
scripts have been run and stopped before everything else? This seems to be
highly unlikely as that would mean that mediatomb has a relation to all other
installed packages.

Anyway, if you already depend on $all, the Should-Start and Should-Stop lines
seem to be superfluous.

Package: libmagic1
Version: 4.26-1
Severity: serious

The libmagic(3) man page says:

"magic_load() adds “.mime” and/or “.mgc” to the database filename as
   appropriate."

and it indeed worked that way in etch. However it is no longer working in
sid. Attached is a sample program (written by my co-worker Neal Krawetz) to
demonstrate this, build it with

  gcc testmagic.c -o testmagic -lmagic

then copy a magic file to /tmp for it to use

  cp /usr/share/file/magic.mime /tmp/foo.mime

and run testmagic.

It is testing two things
1.) It should work when trying to magic_load "/tmp/foo" with a file named
/tmp/foo.mime. If it doesn't this is a direct contradiction of the manpage
and past behaviour.
2.) It should fail when trying to magic_load "/tmp/foo.mime" with a file
named /tmp/foo.mime. If it doesn't this is a direct contradiction of past
behaviour. Maybe it was "enhanced" to do-the-right-thing and check if the
file exists before appending .mime? Even so it still breaks in the case
where someone was expecting that behavior and there are both foo and
foo.mime files present.

This bug breaks all applications that uses libmagic and depend on this
behavior, so I think it's severity serious at least (for #1, #2 is
debatable).

Thanks,

Mediatomb identifies ogg vorbis audio files as application/ogg, which are then
not mapped as object.item.audioItem.musicTrack.

However, the files are indexed as audio files since some metadata of album and
artist are extracted on import time.

Modifying config.xml with the following seems to fix this somehow :

Hope this helps.

Hi,

mediatomb has a dependency on $all which in 99% of the cases is incorrect.
By depending on $all, no other init script can depend on mediatomb, possibly
preventing the other script from working properly.

Please fix the dependencies.

P.S. this is a release goal.

Package: mozilla-plugin-vlc
Version: 0.8.1.svn20050314-1
Severity: important

I created a simple demo page using some sample code that is included in the
docs on the vlc website. I'll add the file to a follow up email.

Before installing the plugin the sample page shows an area where the video is
to be played in and a few links below to control the video (play, pause, stop
and fullscreen). With the plugin installed the page crashes as soon as it is
opened.

I found another site with a demo page included[0], but that too crashes with
the plugin installed.

In both cases when I uninstall the plugin the pages display fine, albeit with
no video.

Hello,

I see you are running sid or testing. Could you retry and see if the
problem is still here.
The mozilla plugin in 1.0.x is far more stable than in 0.9.x and 0.8.6

Regards

Hi,

I use the VLC plugin to display some video streams.
Version 3.0x segfaults before beginning the display, while 2.0x used to work.

Refer to bugzilla #439222 for a transcript of the session from an xterm.

Is it crashing everytime? Could you install vlc-dbg and regenerate the
backtrace.
Also running it in valgrind could be interresting.

> I also attach the logs from vlc -vvv

Looking at line 130 and following there is some very stange key names
and quite strange values. Can you read this stream with other player ?
Is it a stream you control or just coming from the internet ?
