In the Ubuntu bug tracker there is a patch available for the man page,
as that is what is wrong: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/501729

liblo is in experimental because we can now skip the NEW queue when we
finally get the release team's ack. I believe the package does not
require further changes, so basically we are waiting for the release
team. I am currently with little time so I can't volunteer for that
right now, but I think it is unlikely we will get it soon due to the
libjpeg transition, which is huge, and the mips* buildd breakage.

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-4.5/g++-4.5, but succeeds to build with gcc-4.4/g++-4.4.
For the compiler version used, see:
http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2010/01/msg00230.html

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~lucas/logs/2010/01/08b/vlc_1.0.4-2_lsid64b.buildlog
The last lines of the build log are cwat the end of this report.

The reason of the build failure is likely in the package (compiler or
linker message found in the build log), if this turns out as a gcc bug,
please reassign to the gcc-4.5 package. If the build ends with a
message "confused by earlier errors, bailing out", please
ignore it for now; these compiler errors are filed separately.

Hello Debian multimedia packages maintainers,

The file /usr/share/menu/vlc reads
?package(vlc):command="/usr/bin/qvlc" hotkey="V" needs="X11" \
  section="Applications/Viewers" title="VLC media player" \
  icon="/usr/share/vlc/vlc.xpm" hints="Video"

The new Debian menu subpolicy [1] states that Viewers is for non video players.
Video players should be in "Applications/Video" instead

Hi!

The long description of your package could need some formating
improvements. There are strange spacings involved, none after a fullstop
and twice double space in the next line.

I would suggest applying this pseudo-patch:

Also please notice that the Homepage URL is missing its trailing /.
It isn't optional and will result in two requests to the server instead
of only one (the first will result in a 301 Moved Permanently response).

So long, and thanks for effort for Debian nevertheless!

Yep.

Can't confirm that. Over here, it looks like this:

a...@hex:~$ jack_netsource -H localhost
Connected :-)
netjack: at frame 93 -> total netxruns 1  (1%) queue time= 42669

Tested with jackd -d netone.

jackd2 unofficial packages for Sid, Squeeze and Lenny on i386 and amd64

I just merged the jackd-1.9.5 release into our repo. I also enabled

If you like, please give it a whirl:

For those interested in testing but lazy/inexperienced compiling from
source, I have made available unofficial packages for i386 and amd64,
Sid and Squeeze, using one of the following in your
/etc/apt/sources.list:

deb http://debian.jones.dk/ sid audio
deb http://debian.jones.dk/ squeeze audio

...and for Lenny as well - again only i386 and amd64 (tell me if powerpc
is needed - you might be able to persuade me to dust off some compiler
machines for that):

deb http://debian.jones.dk/ lenny audio

Beware that the Lenny backport required backporting ALSA too. I have
not tested how it perhaps affects other packages. If you need
alsa-plugins it is a no-go, as that one is too complex to backport (due
to changes in multilib handling between Lenny and Squeeze).

Tell me if any packages break by pulling in these backports, then I
shall see if it is easily fixed.

perhaps it makes sense to (temporarily) disable the postcommit hook

I don't think so. I'd like to see what happens to "my" package. ;)

Now that you've seen the horrors/wonders I have done to calf and
Hydrogen, would you mind me similarly tightening JACK?

I've actually changed my mind regarding network lookup for resolving
ALSA build-dependencies as they are really quite stable, so I won't do
that at JACK. But I would like to add same snippets and use them to
more strictly maintain build-dependencies and licensing hints.

Ok?

Has anyone from the Debian Multimedia team started packaging
Hydrogen-0.9.4 at this point?

I'll do it!

That is fantastic! Your help and initiative is greatly appreciated.

Do you have a projected completion date?

Done!
