Bug#577257: VLC desktop file uses %U

2010-04-10 Thread Kevin Vesga
Package: vlc
Version: 1.0.5-2

The .desktop file for VLC has the command Exec=vlc %U. This causes
problems when loading files with spaces in their names.

I suggest it be changed to Exec=vlc %F.

I am using Debian GNU/Linux 5.0.

Only once, he asked me for permission to forward my mail to
fedora-devel, but I haven't seen a corresponding thread in the archive,
yet.

I think Harry actually means sparc64, 'cause of this failure [1].

Alternatively, because lives can't enter testing because of the build
failure on mipsel which should be fixed in the patches I added in Git,
would it be better just to upload a new Debian revision (1.3.2-2)?

The bug's already been filed
(http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=563495) and fixed in
v2.3.4. Lintian 2.3.4 doesn't give me this error. Alessio, can you
upgrade to 2.3.4 (in unstable and testing) and confirm that? The error
is reported at lintian.debian.org, however lintian.debian.org says
it's running 2.3.4. Is there a way to request a rescan of lives using
the new version or similar?

Thanks

Bug#477572: RFP: python-pymedia -- Python module for editing wav, mp3, ogg, avi, divx, dvd files

I've skimmed a bit over upstream source, and it seems that not only
avcodec, but also parts of liba52 and faad are included. On the first
sight, all of these copy look rather ancient to me, but I may be wrong.

in any case, I don't think the approach pymedia has taken is a good
candidate for debian. While the project itself seems interesting, I'd
strongly recommend a serious reengineering that includes using system
libraries before working any further on packaging.

I didn't even look at your packaging, because you have decided to only
commit the debian/ directory in you svn without the upstream
source. Therefore, I went to the upstream webpage and downloaded the
source tarball.
