Bug#675584: /usr/bin/avconv: avconv segfaults when transcoding video with libx264 presets

2012-06-02 Thread Rogério Brito
Package: libav-tools
Version: 6:0.8.2-2
Severity: important
File: /usr/bin/avconv

Hi.

I have just tried to transcode some lecture videos for watching on my ipod
and I can't get them working because avconv segfaults when I use this:

,[ avconv -y -i in.mp4 -c:v libx264 -pre libx264-ipod320 -s 320x240 -b:v
768k -c:a copy out.mp4 ]
| avconv version 0.8.2-6:0.8.2-2, Copyright (c) 2000-2011 the Libav developers
| built on May 16 2012 21:00:23 with gcc 4.7.0

`

If I remove the '-pre libx264-ipod320' part from the command line, then
avconv converts the video, but not with the parameters necessary for a low
powered device (i.e., Baseline Profile H.264).

I don't have here symbols for libav (which means that gdb doesn't generate
any useful traceback), but upon using strace on avconv, this is what I get:

,
| (...)
| open(/home/rbrito/.avconv/libx264-libx264-ipod320.avpreset, O_RDONLY) = -1
ENOENT (No such file or directory)
| open(/home/rbrito/.avconv/libx264-ipod320.avpreset, O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT

| open(/usr/share/avconv/libx264-libx264-ipod320.avpreset, O_RDONLY) = -1
ENOENT (No such file or directory)
| open(/usr/share/avconv/libx264-ipod320.avpreset, O_RDONLY) = 6

| read(6, , 32711) = 0
| close(6)= 0
| --- SIGSEGV (Segmentation fault) @ 0 (0) ---
| +++ killed by SIGSEGV +++

`

I have not read the code (too short on time), but I suspect that this is
easily reproducible.

Regards,

Bug#675610: Please build cmus without roar for wheezy

2012-06-02 Thread Ron
Package: cmus
Version: 2.4.3-1
Severity: serious

Hi,

We'd like to have nothing depending on roar for wheezy, since it in turn
is insisting on depending on other libraries that we really need to remove
for wheezy, so it may need to be removed as well now. (among other issues
that people are currently having with it)

cmus is now the last package that needs to be updated for that. Everything
else is either done, or in the process of being done. If needed, I'm happy
to send a patch or NMU if that would be helpful.

RC severity mostly so this shows up on the radars of all the right people
crossing off the details we need to finalise for the release.

 Thanks!
 Ron

Bug#675708: audacious: Mp3s with a bitrate of 64kbps or less stutter badly on playback

2012-06-02 Thread redomen
Package: audacious
Version: 3.2.2-2
Severity: normal

When playing any mp3 file with a low bitrate (64kbps or less) the sound
stutters/cracks very badly. Higher bitrate files and other media types
have no problems. The low bitrate files play just fine in VLC and mplayer.

Bug#675719: jack_control broken (obvious syntax errors)

2012-06-02 Thread Jamie Heilman
Package: jackd2
Version: 1.9.8~dfsg.4+20120529git007cdc37-1
Priority: important

This is broken upstream, they would probably appreciate the attached
patch too. It fixes two things, mixing tabs and spaces in a python
program; and broken string formatting interpolation due to an errant
parenthesis.
