I have been reminded that there's a nasty C++ transition going on, so these might be transient (i.e. fixed when the upstream libraries are done transitioning). Packages which are built with g++-5 from experimental (not the one from testing/unstable) are using the new ABI. Libraries built from this source package export some of the new __cxx11 or B5cxx11 symbols, and dropping other symbols. If these symbols are part of the API of the library, then this rebuild with g++-5 will trigger a transition for the library. What is needed: - Rebuild the library using g++/g++-5 from experimental. Note that most likely all C++ libraries within the build dependencies need a rebuild too. You can find the log for a rebuild in https://people.debian.org/~doko/logs/gcc5-20150701/ Search for BEGIN GCC CXX11 in the log. - Decide if the symbols matching __cxx11 or B5cxx11 are part of the library API, and are used by the reverse dependencies of the library. - If there are no symbols matching __cxx11 or B5cxx11 in the symbols forming the library API, you should close this issue with a short explanation. - If there are no reverse dependencies, it should be the package maintainers decision if a transition is needed. However this might break software which is not in the Debian archive, and built against these packages. - If a library transition is needed, please prepare for the change. Rename the library package, append v5 to the name of the package (e.g. libfoo2 - libfoo2v5). Such a change can be avoided, if you have a soversion bump and you upload this version instead of the renamed package. Prepare a patch and attach it to this issue (mark this issue with patch), so that it is possible to NMU such a package. We'll probably have more than hundred transitions triggered. Then reassign the issue to release.debian.org and properly tag it as a transition issue, by sending an email to cont...@bugs.debian.org: user release.debian@packages.debian.org usertag this issue + transition block this issue by 790756 reassign this issue release.debian.org - If unsure if a transition is needed, please tag the issue with help to ask for feedback from other Debian developers. Bug#791164: marked as done (libsbsms: library transition may be needed when GCC 5 is the default)

This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what this message is talking about, this may indicate a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Bug#794423: vlc: no Continue playback message in qt4 interface
Package: vlc Version: 2.2.0~rc2-2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, When reopening a video file, the promoted feature of a message like Do you want to restart the playback where left off? [Continue] X doesn't appear in QT4 interface. After a search, it seems to be precisely this (resolved) bug: https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/14034 Just like described in the link, opening a video through Open file menu will let that particular file to have the Continue message and button appearing every next time. It's reproducile with a standard Jessie installation. In Debian Testing the feature is working. I understand that it's a minor bug, it would be nice to have it in Stable as well. -- System Information: Debian Release: 8.1 APT prefers stable APT policy: (900, 'stable'), (500, 'stable-updates') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.16.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages vlc depends on: ii fonts-freefont-ttf 20120503-4 ii libaa1 1.4p5-43 ii libavcodec-extra-56 6:11.4-1~deb8u1 ii libavutil54 6:11.4-1~deb8u1 ii libc6 2.19-18 ii libcaca00.99.beta19-2 ii libegl1-mesa [libegl1-x11] 10.3.2-1 ii libfreerdp-cache1.1 1.1.0~git20140921.1.440916e+dfsg1-4 ii libfreerdp-client1.11.1.0~git20140921.1.440916e+dfsg1-4 ii libfreerdp-codec1.1 1.1.0~git20140921.1.440916e+dfsg1-4 ii libfreerdp-core1.1 1.1.0~git20140921.1.440916e+dfsg1-4 ii libfreerdp-crypto1.11.1.0~git20140921.1.440916e+dfsg1-4 ii libfreerdp-gdi1.1 1.1.0~git20140921.1.440916e+dfsg1-4 ii libfreerdp-locale1.11.1.0~git20140921.1.440916e+dfsg1-4 ii libfreerdp-rail1.1 1.1.0~git20140921.1.440916e+dfsg1-4 ii libfreerdp-utils1.1 1.1.0~git20140921.1.440916e+dfsg1-4 ii libfreetype62.5.2-3 ii libfribidi0 0.19.6-3 ii libgcc1 1:4.9.2-10 ii libgl1-mesa-glx [libgl1]10.3.2-1 ii libgles1-mesa [libgles1]10.3.2-1 ii libgles2-mesa [libgles2]10.3.2-1 ii libice6 2:1.0.9-1+b1 ii libpulse0 5.0-13 ii libqtcore4 4:4.8.6+git64-g5dc8b2b+dfsg-3+deb8u1 ii libqtgui4 4:4.8.6+git64-g5dc8b2b+dfsg-3+deb8u1 ii libsdl-image1.2 1.2.12-5+b5 ii libsdl1.2debian 1.2.15-10+b1 ii libsm6 2:1.2.2-1+b1 ii libstdc++6 4.9.2-10 ii libva-drm1 1.4.1-1 ii libva-x11-1 1.4.1-1 ii libva1 1.4.1-1 ii libvlccore8 2.2.0~rc2-2 ii libvncclient0 0.9.9+dfsg2-6.1+deb8u1 ii libwinpr-rpc0.1 1.1.0~git20140921.1.440916e+dfsg1-4 ii libwinpr-sspi0.11.1.0~git20140921.1.440916e+dfsg1-4 ii libwinpr-utils0.1 1.1.0~git20140921.1.440916e+dfsg1-4 ii libx11-62:1.6.2-3 ii libxcb-composite0 1.10-3+b1 ii libxcb-keysyms1 0.4.0-1 ii libxcb-randr0 1.10-3+b1 ii libxcb-render0 1.10-3+b1 ii libxcb-shape0 1.10-3+b1 ii libxcb-shm0 1.10-3+b1 ii libxcb-xfixes0 1.10-3+b1 ii libxcb-xv0 1.10-3+b1 ii libxcb1 1.10-3+b1 ii libxext62:1.3.3-1 ii libxinerama12:1.1.3-1+b1 ii libxpm4 1:3.5.11-1+b1 ii vlc-nox 2.2.0~rc2-2 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.8.dfsg-2+b1 Versions of packages vlc recommends: ii vlc-plugin-notify 2.2.0~rc2-2 ii vlc-plugin-samba 2.2.0~rc2-2 ii xdg-utils 1.1.0~rc1+git20111210-7.4 Versions of packages vlc suggests: pn videolan-doc none Versions of packages vlc-nox depends on: ii liba52-0.7.4 0.7.4-17 ii libasound2 1.0.28-1 ii libass50.10.2-3 ii libavahi-client3 0.6.31-5 ii libavahi-common3 0.6.31-5 ii libavc1394-0 0.5.4-2 ii libavcodec-extra-566:11.4-1~deb8u1 ii libavformat56 6:11.4-1~deb8u1 ii libavutil546:11.4-1~deb8u1 ii libbasicusageenvironment0 2014.01.13-1 ii libbluray1 1:0.6.2-1 ii libc6 2.19-18 ii libcddb2 1.3.2-5 ii libcdio13 0.83-4.2 ii libchromaprint01.2-1 ii libcrystalhd3 1:0.0~git20110715.fdd2f19-11 ii libdbus-1-31.8.18-0+deb8u1 ii libdc1394-22 2.2.3-1 ii libdca00.0.5-7 ii libdirectfb-1.2-9 1.2.10.0-5.1 ii libdvbpsi9 1.2.0-1 ii libdvdnav4 5.0.1-1 ii libdvdread45.0.0-1 ii libebml4
