Dear Maintainer, i can't install libavcodec57 or libavcodec-extra57 because
libx265-87 conflicts with libx265-95. Can you rebuild libavcodec with new
version of libx265 ?

This is incorrect, as these two library packages are perfectly co-installable:
$ dpkg -l libx265*

That's not possible, because libx265-95 is not yet in jessie-backports.

I think you have a problem with local/third-party packages.
Hence I'm closing this bug.

No need for apologies: Assuming the new release does not require a
SONAME bump, deadline before deep freeze is still more than a week away.

Also, if you discover severe bugs (especially if affecting security)
then such are permitted through also during freeze (and after final
stable Debian release, even).

Since I am not directly involved with maintaining lilv I will leave it
to others to actually upgrade the Debian package. If noone picks this
up within a few days, feel free to ping us again, and I will act on it!

Lilv release / stable freeze

2017-01-04 Thread David Robillard
Hi,

Just a heads up since the freeze is imminent, we discovered a somewhat
important bug in lilv yesterday, so I fixed that and kicked out a new
lilv release. If this could make it in before the freeze, that'd be
great (but it's not the end of the world if that's not possible).

Sorry for the terrible timing :)

Loading a PDF, if I tick the 'import via Poppler' box then inkscape crashes.

I rebuilt inkscape with debugging symbols and was able to reproduce the crash.

The PDF that caused the crash is available here:

Here is the backtrace from gdb:

This comma is supposed to be optional.

We end up trying to parse "0,16,8" as "flag comma-wsp? flag comma-wsp?
coordinate-pair". This is supposed result in a flag of "0", another of
"1", and a coordinate-pair of "6,8". No comma is needed between the "1"
and the "6", because a flag cannot be more than one digit long anyway.

Firefox and Chrom{e,ium} do fine with this.

Unfortunately, Inkscape doesn't actually manage this; instead, it
appears to abort parsing the path at this point, presumably believing it
to be syntactically invalid. This results in the enclosed actual vs.
expected renderings.

(The original version of the test SVG had only one path, which was the
concatenation of the paths in the provided version. Inkscape only
displayed through the first path, which is consistant with the path
parse error handling given in the SVG spec; namely, draw everything
before the parse error, but stop at the error. Inkscaped didn't warn
about it like the spec suggests, though, even though an SVG editor is
probably where such warnings would be MOST useful.)

Package: inkscape
Version: 0.47.0-2+b1
Severity: important

When rendering SVG items that contain Arc commands, inkscape
screws up the geometry. Simple test case:

http://www.w3.org/2000/svg;>

This attempts to render a unit circle twice. First, in red, as a
. Secondly, in green, in four equal arc-segment pieces in
a . The correct result is that the two versions of the circle
coincide. There should be no visible difference between their locations.

For testing, I've invoked inkscape to render it via "inkscape -bblack
-e t1.png t1.svg". Actual result is that the red version is properly
circular but the green one deviates from it significantly. They coincide
at the four cardinal points, but between them the green one is located
well inside the red circle. I crudely measured its diagonal diameter
to be about 1.7% less than the circle's diameter.

In my real application, where I first noticed the fault, the deviations
are much more significant than the 1.7% that you see with the simple
test case. It seems to depend on the angular extent of the arc, in a
non-obvious manner. The bug is utterly devastating.

Googling reveals some talk about Inkscape internally approximating arcs
with Bezier curves. That could account for this, if it's done ineptly.
If Inkscape is to use such approximations then it must use more control
points, adaptively, to get a result that's close enough given the output
resolution. But it would be much better, of course, for Inkscape to
actually handle arcs as arcs, rendering them natively.

If text on a path and the path it is attached to are duplicated as a
group, inkscape keeps the text connected to the original path, not the
new path. IMO this is a surprising behavior and less useful than
linking the text to the new path.

  Try the following:

  1. Make a path and place some text on it.
  2. Make the text and the path into a group (C-g).
  3. Make several duplicates of the group and move them around the page.
  4. Notice that deforming the original path affects all the text
objects, but deforming any of the other paths doesn't affect any
object (including the one that appears to be attached to the path).

Particularly if the text has been moved along the path, it would be
nice to have the duplicated text attached to the duplicated path, so
that you can easily have a uniform "starting condition" for all the
duplicates.

  Daniel

Package: inkscape
Version: 0.44.1-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

The inkscape and inkview binaries are some of the largest on my machine:

$ ls -l /usr/bin | sort -rn -k 5 | head
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root8689772 2006-08-28 22:33 hugin
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root7599308 2006-03-18 20:00 AbiWord-2.4
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root7175116 2006-08-28 22:33 nona_gui
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root7138380 2006-08-28 22:33 nona
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root6182732 2006-01-16 15:56 mplayer
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root5026708 2006-09-25 13:28 inkscape
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root5017492 2006-09-25 13:28 inkview
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root4016828 2006-05-04 09:11 Xprt
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root3372768 2006-03-29 13:46 gs-gpl
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root3085008 2006-01-30 21:09 gimp-2.2

I'm particularly sensitive to disk space as I'm running from a 4GB flash drive.

I suspect that the inkscape and inkview binaries are > 90% identical. Would it
be
possible to eliminate one of them, and thereby save nearly 5MB? Possible
methods:

- Two links to the same executable which checks argv[0].
- An executable for inkscape and a script for inkview which calls inkscape with
a
  view-only flag.
- Two small executables and a shared library.

I appreciate that not everyone shares my desire to optimise disk space and will
understand if you choose to ignore this report.

Thanks, Phil.

Oops, I meant the /etc/fonts/conf.d/70-no-bitmaps.conf symbolic link.

This is also fine with inkscape 0.48.5-3 on a Debian/jessie machine,
where I also get:

$ fc-match Helvetica
texgyreheros-regular.otf: "TeX Gyre Heros" "Regular"

(with or without my ~/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf file).

I've now found how to reproduce the bug: remove the
/etc/fonts/70-no-bitmaps.conf file, so that one gets:

$ fc-match Helvetica
helvR12-ISO8859-1.pcf.gz: "Helvetica" "Regular"

I cannot reproduce the bug on a new machine with inkscape 0.91-12,
i.e. the SVG file looks fine in inkscape, whether I use my
~/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf file or not.

In case this matters, I now have:

$ fc-match Helvetica
texgyreheros-regular.otf: "TeX Gyre Heros" "Regular"

If I remove the fonts-texgyre package, I get:

$ fc-match Helvetica
qhvr.pfb: "TeXGyreHeros" "Regular"

and the SVG file is still OK in inkscape.

So, either this has been fixed in inkscape, or something significant
has changed on the system (e.g. in fontconfig). I suppose that this
bug should be closed.

Package: inkscape
Version: 0.48.3.1-1+b1
Severity: normal

Hello,

I cannot search the Open Clip Art library in Inkscape. Here are the
steps to follow to reproduce the bug (100% reproducibility on my
machine), with the console outputs (my comments are preceeded by a #):

$ inkscape
# Click menu “File” --> “Import from Open Clip Art” --> type something
# in the search box, click “Search”.
# The name of a (single) found image appears in the images' list.
Emergency save activated!
Emergency save completed. Inkscape will close now.
If you can reproduce this crash, please file a bug at www.inkscape.org
with a detailed description of the steps leading to the crash, so we can fix it.
# X dialog appears: “Inkscape a subi une erreur interne et va se fermer
# maintenant.” (approximate translation: “An internal error occured,
# Inkscape will end now.”)
# Click the “Close” button.
zsh: segmentation fault inkscape

Attached is a partial strace, from right before the crash to the console
messages (there is some more stuff after, but it did not seem very
relevant). I did not include the full strace because it is extremely
verbose due to all the mouse events, but if you need it I can generate
one.

Please don't hesitate to ask if you need more information.

Cheers,
  Matteo

hi,

when exporting from the commandline to pdf, ps or eps it seems not to
be possible to select to raster effects (as it is possible from the
gui), but instead the effected objects are just left out from the export
(unless of course you use --export-ignore-filters, but the you loose the
effects).

this decreases the usefullness of inkscape in batch mode.

yours,
albert
