It appears there was a typo in the release notes - it should say that ffmpeg 3.3 is required for VDPAU. This is the relevant upstream commit: video: drop vaapi/vdpau hw decoding support with FFmpeg 3.2: https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/commit/f59371de2170141fc28540d03c4e7ecc62844ebf Unfortunately Debian doesn't yet have FFmpeg 3.3 so that feature was not compiled into mpv at build time. Now that upstream has dropped the old version, there is no alternative to fallback on. I might be able to revert the upstream commit temporarily. AO: [pulse] 48000Hz stereo 2ch float VO: [vdpau] 1920x1080 yuv420p * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I checked the release notes, which stated: VA-API/VDPAU hardware decoding now requires FFmpeg > 3.2. and checked the installed ffmpeg: ffmpeg 7:3.2.6-1+b3 * What was the outcome of this action? * What outcome did you expect instead? With this applied I can still > playback videos with vlc. As long as the adoption to upnp 1.8 requires to add -1.8 everywhere (are we supposed to change it to -1.9 next month with the next upstream release?), this was explicitly NAKed upstream. So please fix the include paths and the name of the pkg-config module to point back to upnp. All other parts of the patch can be done with a simple SONAME bump and a normal library transition and adding calls to UpnpDiscovery_get_*_cstr depending on the upnp version.
