Bug#877798: kodi: FTBFS on alpha: tests don't start

2017-10-05 Thread Aaron M. Ucko
Source: kodi
Version: 2:17.3+dfsg1-3
Severity: important
Tags: upstream
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)
User: debian-al...@lists.debian.org

The latest build of kodi for alpha (admittedly not a release
architecture) failed:

[==] Running 582 tests from 91 test cases.
  [--] Global test environment set-up.
E: Build killed with signal TERM after 150 minutes of inactivity

Judging from other architectures' and versions' build logs, the test
suite normally reports detailed progress, so I gather that in this
case, it hanged at startup for some reason. Could you please take a
look?

Thanks!

Bug#877656:

2017-10-05 Thread Martijn Kaijser
As Kodi team member I find this behaviour totally unacceptable. You are
modifying the official Kodi source code without any approval from Team
Kodi. It also shows there is zero interest in working with upstream (us) to
properly solve this potential issue. As such you are in clear violation of
our trademark policy. As such we request that you revert any changes you
have made or remove Kodi from the repository.

Bug#877773: groovebasin crashes

2017-10-05 Thread Thadeu Lima de Souza Cascardo
Package: groovebasin
Version: 1.4.0-1
Severity: grave

groovebasin crashes when simply running with 'groovebasin'. Setting this
as grave as it seems to make it unusable for any user.

I was using groovebasin during the stretch release cycle and though I
found some problems related to filename encoding, it was a great player.

After the release, some nodejs updates seemed to require binary NMUs due
to ABI incompatibilities for some of the libraries used by groovebasin.
After they were completed, I could upgrade nodejs and groovebasin. But
for a while, I didn't run groovebasin, so didn't notice the issue. So,
it's possible that it's related to the nodejs upgrade.

Thank you very much for getting this nice player into Debian.
Cascardo.

Kodi supports downloading and loading addons at runtime.

Official addon feed is served only via http and contain non-free addons.

Allowing to extend the system with non-free addons at runtime by default
is arguably an anti-feature in itself. Doing so insecurely poses a risk
of malicious code getting into users' home and executed by Kodi.

Attached patch relaxes to make addon feed optional.

I intend to move the addons feed configuration file to a separate
package "kodi-repository-kodi" and, at first, ship that package in main
recommended by kodi.

Later when an alternate package "kodi-repository-curated" is available¹,
I intend to favor that over kodi-repository-kodi and move the latter to
contrib.

 - Jonas

¹ I am setting up a web service "addons.debian.net" which (among other
things) will provide a curated feed of Kodi plugins, filtered to list
only DFSG-free addons.

Please keep this issue open in the bug tracker for the package it
was filed for. If a fix in another package is required, please
file a bug for the other package (or clone), and add a block in this
package. Please keep the issue open until the package can be built in
a follow-up test rebuild.

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-7/g++-7, but succeeds to build with gcc-6/g++-6. The
severity of this report may be raised before the buster release.
There is no need to fix this issue in time for the stretch release.

The full build log can be found at:

The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 7, either set CC=gcc-7 CXX=g++-7 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t=experimental install g++

Common build failures are new warnings resulting in build failures with
-Werror turned on, or new/dropped symbols in Debian symbols files.

Closes: 853476 877656
Changes:
 kodi (2:17.3+dfsg1-3) unstable; urgency=medium
 .
   * Fix set core configure options to all instances.
   * Set configure options --disable-maintainer-mode
--disable-silent-rules (unused now but might be added in future).
   * Fix avoid custom build rule silencing.
   * Fix FTBFS: Build-depend on and build with gcc-6 and g++-6 (until
 bug#841556 is fixed).
Closes: Bug#853476. Thanks to Matthias Klose and Bálint Réczey.
   * Modernize Vcs-* fields:
+ Use https (not git or http) protocol.
+ Use git (not gitweb) in path.
   * Use https in Homepage URL.
   * Add myself as uploader.
   * Add patch 18 to support omitting addon repository feed.
   * Ship repository feed in separate package kodi-repository-kodi.
Closes: Bug#877656 (or arguably only lowers severity of it, but
since we cannot track that versioned better to close and track the
 lowered severity separately).

Don't think of me as the recipient: Think of it as a way to create an
interest group around a narrow, actionable topic.

You raised this as a cross-post on two mailinglists somewhat related to
your topic. Those are good places to seek help, I just imagine it might
be even better if then the detailed discussion happening elsewhere only
among those really interested in that detailed topic (myself included) -
and I offer a way to do that by use of a wishlist bugreport with the
kodi package.

What I imagine is useful is your clues for the puzzle. And a link to
the wiki page you might have created for tracking facts about the
puzzle.

Ideally, cross-posts to multiple lists come with an explicit invitation
to which *single* place to follow up.
