2018-03-16 Thread Antonio Ospite
Package: fluidsynth
Version: 1.1.10-1
Followup-For: Bug #760210

Dear Maintainer,

the 1.1.10 upstream release installs a systemd unit to make it possible
to launch fluidsynth as a systemd _user_ service.

Please consider adding this to the Debian package.

Thank you for your work.

Ciao,
   Antonio

Bug#834135: mplayer crashes with SIGSEGV when taking a screenshot

2016-09-15 Thread Antonio Ospite
Package: mplayer
Version: 2:1.3.0-3
Followup-For: Bug #834135

Dear Maintainer,

The issue has been fixed upstream, see
http://lists.mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/mplayer-dev-eng/2016-June/073497.html

I prepared a patch against the debian package repository to integrate
the fix.

Now I have a package with a working mplayer installed locally, but it
would be great for others if you could upload a new package version with
the fix.

Thanks,
   Antonio

Bug#781866: audacity: Audacity for Jessie builds with wxWidgets 3.0.2, which is not fully compatible with 2.8.x code

2015-04-23 Thread Antonio Ospite
Package: audacity
Version: 2.0.6-2
Followup-For: Bug #781866

Dear Maintainer,

any news on this issue?

Dave, a workaround for the device selection boxes is to reset the
toolbars from the menus: View - Toolbars - Reset toolbars

But this has to be done after each launch, and the result is not perfect
either.

I see that the debian package has several patches regarding wxWidgets3:
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-multimedia/audacity.git/tree/debian/patches
is upstream aware of them, and endorse them? Or should the package
really just depend on libwxbase2.8-0 and libwxgtk2.8-0?

This is the upstream bug about the issue:
http://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=902

Apparently there might be also some crashes with wx3:
http://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/buglist.cgi?keywords=wx3resolution=---

Just my 2c.

Ciao,
   Antonio

Dear Maintainer,

could you please enable support for joystick device for linux targets?
AFAICS you'd need to add --enable-joystick explicitly when calling the
configure script.

Thanks,

We have to fix fill_locales(), which still thinks the locale files are in

I have an experimental patch which fixes the crash, I am going to post it as
a follow up mail, so I can use use the report number in it.

BTW, I think that blender should fail gracefully when it does not find
a directory or a file, it should not crash, maybe something like this can be
upstreamed:

Actually this sentence is not accurate, the original code won't crash,
it is patch 0005 which was incomplete.

But still, a change like the one above may make the code a bit more
robust against patching.

But I have no time to properly test it and upstream it for now.

Bug#702515: blender: 2.66a-1 cannot find scripts, still uses version string for system path

2013-03-07 Thread Antonio Ospite
Package: blender
Version: 2.66a-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

After applying the fix for the crash in #702503 blender starts but it cannot
find the scripts dir and complains with errors like:

pyrna_srna_ExternalType: failed to find 'bpy_types' module
  ...
search for unknown operator 'WM_OT_context_set_enum', 'WM_OT_context_set_enum'
  ...
search for unknown operator 'WM_OT_url_open', 'WM_OT_url_open'
  ...

It looks like blender still looks for the system path with the version string
in it.

As a workaround we can set the environment variable:
BLENDER_SYSTEM_SCRIPTS=/usr/share/blender/scripts blender

I am going to send a patch to fix that as a follow up to the report.

Thanks,
   Antonio

Don't use version string when getting the system path.

Patch 0007 fixes this for the installation part, but is incomplete as it
does not cover the runtime query of the system path.

Fix also a typo in the description of patch 0007.

Bug#702420: blender: 2.66-2 fails to configure, errors when bytecompiling some addons

2013-03-06 Thread Antonio Ospite
Package: blender
Version: 2.66-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

the new blender 2.66-2 from experimental does not configure correctly, it
looks like it fails when bytecompiling some python addons.

Errors were encountered while processing:
 blender
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

---

The two errors are about functionalities introduced in python-3.3[1]

By looking at the dependencies with apt-get show I can see it depends on
both python3 (= 3.3) and python3.2, and in fact the letter is used in
/var/lib/dpkg/info/blender.postinst

The issue can be worked around by editing this file and replacing 3.2 with
3.3 until a proper fix is available.

In the source package I see both python3-dev and pynton3.3-dev in build deps,
maybe this is what is confusing the build system making it add a dep on
3.2?

BTW, even if configuration succeeds after the hack from above the program
crashes here, but this is matter for another report :)

Thanks,
   Antonio

I've started working on 2.62 a couple of days ago.
There's my experimental branch on the git repository, where patches have
been re-worked (dropping those applied upstream) and we're waiting to
test OceanSim support enough to declare it usable. Cycles support was
also asked to be added, but there's an issue[1] about that.

However, feel free to test the snapshot and help us improving it ;-)

Hi Matteo, the debian package from the master.mfv branch builds and
installs fine here, thanks.

The issue reported in #658275 is still there, but it is a very minor
problem, and I can't investigate its cause for the time being.

Keep up the good work.

Ciao,
   Antonio

The problem seems to be caused by the AUD_Reference() dstructor?

Another bug mentioning AUD_Reference:
http://projects.blender.org/tracker/?func=detailatid=498aid=28672group_id=9

but I didn't test if the attached patch fixes the issue.

Since the crash happens in __run_exit_handlers() I think all the rendering
engines are listed, but the user cannot be sure of that from the console
output.

Thanks,

   if(!system_path[0])

built with this change reversed, blender runs and does not crash.

however, for some reason no menus are showing in my build... may be
another bug or something in my build environment?

Probably when 0005-install_in_usr_lib.patch was refreshed for 2.61 the
maintainers forgot to include also the bits about BLENDER_SYSTEM_FORMAT.

The attached patch makes everything work again.

The patch is against the master branch of the debian packaging at
git://anonscm.debian.org/pkg-multimedia/blender.git
you can apply it with git am so I figure out as the author.

The attached file contains two commits:
 - The first one is a refresh of 0008-update_manpages.patch to make
   git buildpackage happy.
 - The second one adds
   0010-Don-t-use-version-number-in-the-system_path.patch
   to fix this very bug.

Regards,
   Antonio

Add 0010-Don-t-use-version-number-in-the-system_path.patch

Global installation expects system path to be something like
/usr/lib/blender/scripts/ without version numbers.
