I shows up with all data using GNOME Software from testing here...
Can you find it with appstreamcli?
Does running `apt update` help?

It's slightly outdated because I only have limited time and a lot of
projects and packages to care for - updating GS will happen
eventually, as soon as I find the time.

Jup, there are some Ubuntu-specific things missing in asgen still
(langpacks support), as soon as that is in place Ubuntu can use the
new solution.
I am working with Laney on that (or rather, Laney is working on that ^^)

It's definitely showing up in Debian Testing, I just checked that. It
is visible in GNOME Software and has all the data when I run
`appstreamcli get vlc.desktop --details` too.
(the only difference here might be that I am running GNOME Software
git master, but that really shouldn't have an impact).

Jup, this issue is preventing VLC from showing up in the results. It
likely happens due to Ubuntu's Contents file being not up-to-date,
which the old dep11-generator tool Ubuntu uses still relies on.

>>> Debian also has an appstream issues page but maybe the generator needs

Debian looks fine - no error means the data is included, hints are
just informations on how to improve data.

The long-term solution for this problem is to use appstream-generator,
the same tool Debian uses, which is a rewrite of the old tool Ubuntu
is still using. Iain Lane is working on that, and I hope this will
become ready in the Yakkety cycle.
A short-term fix will be having someone (Laney) reprocess the vlc
package and checking that Ubuntu's Contents.gz file is up-to-date.

Bug#699383: libprojectm2: unlisted dependency on package ttf-bitstream-vera

2013-03-19 Thread Matthias Klumpp
Hi!
Are you *sure* that you did not install projectM from a 3rd-party
source other than Debian or that you have old and outdated
configuration in your home-directory? ProjectM should not depend on
this font, but on dejavu-core instead.
The behaviour you describe only happens if you have broken configuration.
Cheers,

Bug#630549: clementine: Crash when openong visualizations menu

2011-07-05 Thread Matthias Klumpp
Hi!
This seems to be one of the very ugly OpenGL bugs... I'm no expert at
OpenGL programming and the projectM code is sort of... messy, but I'll take
a look at it as soon as I have a little more time.
This issue does not occur with the version of Clementine which ships
projectM internally?

Anyway, projectM upstream really needs some help to keep this great
project going, which is strange since projectM is used in Boxee, XBMC and
pretty much every other mediaplayer which wants pretty visualisations in
the *nix world.
I'll take a look on how XBMC handles projectM.
Thanks for this (good) bug report!
Cheers,
   Matthias

I didn't know how to fix this, and I still find it very strange... Why do

I already changed this, but haven't commit it yesterday. (The patch was

I added Breaks and Replaces here, but someone on IRC told me I should
better use Conflicts and Provides... I'll change this back. Fortunately
AFAIK no package depends on libprojectm-data (except libprojectm2, which is
already adjusted), so this is no problem.

I cannot fetch the source from web, cause wget can't handle the weird

I could just fetch the stuff from SVN. I'll rename the script then.

The packages projectm-pulseaudio and projectm-jack are just applications to
visualize Jack or PulseAudio streams using projectM.
They are no backends and can be installed parallel. This is mentioned in
the package description, but I could descriobe it more clearly if
necessary.

Hmm... The icon is located in the projectm-data package, both .desktop
files just refer to it. There are no two projectM icons.

This is a really stupid issue. A lot of people found it in projectM, but I
can't fix it and noone else, including the Fedora team, as able to find the
source of this crash. I sent a mail to upstream to quote on that error.

Thanks! It seems like the conflict of both patches was the one reason why
the patches failed to apply.

Fedora Core does. But I could change the SONAME back, cause the change 2.0
<-> 2.0.1 did not intriduce any API/ABI breaks. (This was the reason why I
included the patch)

Thanks! I have one (maybe silly) question: How can I add my public key to
the list to be able to push commits to the remote Git repo?
At time I only get "fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly" errors or a
password prompt which does not accept my password...
I added the rsa fingerprint at Alioth. Are git.debian.org and
alioth.debian.org connected ot do I need to add my key somewhere else too?

Okay. Can I get access to the Git repository to make changes on the
package? The I would stop committing new packages to Debian Mentors and
push all changes directly to the Git repo.
Cheers

RFS: projectm (ping)

2010-06-19 Thread Matthias Klumpp
Hello!

I'm still looking for someone interested in reviewing & sponsoring my
packaging of projectM.

Package details:

* Package name: projectm
  Version : 2.0.1-1
  Upstream Author : projectM Team
* URL : http://projectm.sf.net
* License : GPLv2 and LGPLv2.1
  Section : sound

It builds these binary packages:
libprojectm-dev - Advanced Milkdrop-compatible music visualization library
- dev
libprojectm-qt-dev - projectM Qt4 (development files)
libprojectm-qt1 - projectM Qt4 bindings
libprojectm2 - Advanced Milkdrop-compatible music visualization library
libvisual-projectm - libvisual module for projectM
projectm-data - Advanced Milkdrop-compatible music visualization library -
data
projectm-jack - projectM JackAudio module
projectm-pulseaudio - projectM PulseAudio module

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The upload would fix these bugs: 565355

There's some "special" stuff to know about this package: The package
replaces the orphaned libvisual-projectm package and the libprojectm source
package.
I got authorization from the maintainer of libprojectm to take over
maintainership over this package.
The pkg produces some Lintian warnings about ancient Autotools scripts or
Windows binaries in the package. (projectM uses CMake, the
Autotools-Scripts are just cruft which isn't used) It also has some
binaries which unnecessarily linked against some libraries. All this
stuff
should be
fixed by upstream, but upstream seems to have a lack of manpower at time,
so I can't get a clean tarball or fixes for all issues.
But the overall quality of the pkg is okay, I think.
By including the package in Debian, a lot of other apps would benefit
from it. (Some audio-players use it for music visualization)
The package might be a candidate to be maintained by the Debian-Multimedia
team.

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/projectm
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main
contrib non-free
- dget
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/projectm/projectm_2.0.1-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards
 Matthias Klumpp

I'm not in any packaging team at time, so what does it mean to make it
available in a public git repo? It's actually a very small packaging
project, so I don't use any VCS for it. I'm in contact with upstream, but
he seems to be very busy and unable to fix all issues (also some regarding
programming) at time. (And I miss deeper knowledge of projectM)
If the package is reviewed I could help in any way to make the pkg
available via Git.

Okay... hmm.. Shouldn't this be mentioned on the Debian mailing list
listing? Anyway, I'm subscribed to the multimedia-maintainers list now.

I'm not in any packaging team at time, so what does it mean to make it
available in a public git repo? It's actually a very small packaging
project, so I don't use any VCS for it. I'm in contact with upstream, but
he seems to be very busy and unable to fix all issues (also some regarding
programming) at time. (And I miss deeper knowledge of projectM)
If the package is reviewed I could help in any way to make the pkg
available via Git.
Kind regards
