Bug#869660: ffmpeg: choppy video playback in Kdenlive & VLC in sid
Hello, I don't see the problem anymore, neither on stable/testing/unstable (all upgraded since then). I'm sorry my analysis of the situation was not very clear at the time of reporting, and then I've been very slow to react :( Please close the ticket... and thank your for your fantastic work! Bug#869660: ffmpeg: choppy video playback in Kdenlive & VLC in sid
Package: ffmpeg Version: 7:3.2.5-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? Upgrading sid around mid july (after few weeks forgetting about it) suddenly made video programs very uncomfortable to use: noticed in Kdenlive, but VLC too. Problem also reported by other user on Kdenlive forum: https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=265=140299 * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I forced downgrade back to stretch. Kdenlive & MLT versions remained the same, but libavcodec & co changed between 3.2.6 & 3.2.5 * What was the outcome of this action? Kdenlive is smooth to use in stretch, but only 1 or 2 fps & choppy audio in sid. * What outcome did you expect instead? I expect video programs to work in sid. -- System Information: Removing: reporting from a different system... ___ pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-multimedia-maintainers

Hello, One month later, I still haven't forgotten that task, sorry for the delay ;) new upload here: http://mentors.debian.net/package/vid.stab Le mardi 27 octobre 2015, 00:16:57 Andreas Cadhalpun a écrit : [snip] > * d/control: > - 'Priority: optional' not extra > - packages should be 'Multi-Arch: same' > * d/copyright: misses copyright of 'Alexey Osipov' Done, thanks for guidance! > The tests could be run e.g. with: > cd tests; cmake .; make all; ./tests > However, the return code is wrong [2]. I included your patch, but I'm not sure how to add & run test target in debian/rules. This might go into future improvements, with the runtime loading of SSE on i386? (Felipe's suggestion) I don't know if this packaging activity is worth versioning on alioth, as upstream doesn't seem to evolve any/much more? If yes anyway, am I allowed to initialize a git repo? Many thanks again, Cheers, Vincent. signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part. ___ pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-multimedia-maintainers

Hello, I posted my introduction message to the wrong list, just understanding 1 month after... Here it comes again ;-) Vincent -- Message transmis -- Objet : RFS: vid.stab/0.98b-1 Date : vendredi 11 septembre 2015, 22:26:35 De : Vincent Pinon <vpi...@april.org> À : debian-multime...@lists.debian.org Hello dear multimedia team, I am Vincent Pinon, Kdenlive developer and long time Debian user. I have been thinking of joining your team for years, and today I seized the opportunity of having Debian Devs around me (at KDE Sprint in Randa) to get guided in packaging process :-) So I began my packaging activity with a small one : the vid.stab (video deshaking filter) was missing for years in archive, despite of an old ITP (709193)... So here is the package, imported from a Ubuntu PPA, and cleaned a bit. Next steps would be to use it in mlt builds, and even ffmpeg & transcode. Hope this helps, please explain if anything is wrong. Cheers! Bug#769862: libav: target option broken - leads to wrong output files
Source: libav Version: 11 Severity: normal Tags: upstream This bug was reported upstream by someone else 1.5 year back, with note on how to simply fix it, but the problem persists. This breaks eg DVD production flow, as the encoding profiles produce non-compliant output files. Workaround is to re-enter all associated options, but this is an annoying regression (not seen in FFmpeg).
