Bug#671290: vlc hangs at start of video for certain videos
Package: vlc Version: 2.0.1-4 I have just installed Debian testing (wheezy) amd64 on May 1, 2012. uname -a gives: Linux c-76-111-67-198 3.2.0-2-amd64 #1 SMP Sun Apr 15 16:47:38 UTC 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux vlc hangs at the start of certain video files when the file is played. I got the output at the end of this file using "vlc -vv". I had to use kill -9 to get rid of the vlc process. My machine does not have any speakers. At the advice of the vlc webpage, I deleted ~/.config/vlc/vlcrc The hang was the same before and after deleting vlcrc. If so, please attach a backtrace (install vlc-dbg and follow the instructions from https://wiki.debian.org/HowToGetABacktrace). tags 671290 + moreinfo thanks Hello, Unfortunately, that's not a very helpful description and the debug log cannot really point out why VLC would dead lock. For that kind of bug, we really need a symbolic threaded stack trace of the jammed process, as gdb can provide.
