RFS: crystalhd

2010-10-12 Thread Andres Mejia
Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "crystalhd".

* Package name: crystalhd
  Version : 1:0.0~git20101012.a3a83b8-1
  Upstream Author : Broadcom Corporation
* URL : http://www.broadcom.com/support/crystal_hd/
* License : GPL drivers, LGPL library
  Section : libs

It builds these binary packages:
crystalhd-dkms - Crystal HD Video Decoder (Linux kernel driver)
gstreamer0.10-crystalhd - Crystal HD Video Decoder (GStreamer plugin)
libcrystalhd-dev - Crystal HD Video Decoder (development files)
libcrystalhd3 - Crystal HD Video Decoder (shared library)

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The upload would fix these bugs: 577130

My motivation for maintaining this package is: I'm a dev for XBMC, which uses
crystalhd. Also, one of the XBMC devs is also an upstream dev for crystalhd.

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/c/crystalhd
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main
contrib non-free
- dget
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/c/crystalhd/crystalhd_0.0~git20101012.a3a83b8-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards
 Andres Mejia

Please work with upstream to get this merged into Linux.

Ok, so as I said in IRC, upstream is working on getting newer drivers in
mainline Linux. However, they would prefer it if distros were kept in sync
with them in regards to drivers.

So with that said, I'm still looking for someone to review and upload
crystalhd.

Are these packages still actively maintained? I own one of the Crystal HD
70012 mini pci express cards and it's a shame that support for this
incredibly useful piece of hardware is so low.
