[PLUG] WiFi Access Point redirects.
Folks, I am not sure if it is me or just that the mechanisim used to redirect a browser on WiFi when being Queried for a login or some sort of acceptance of usage. I travel a lot, and find that you get to a airport, and try to log into the wifi network, but the redirect Mechanisim does not seem to repond. Or it may do so after many attempts to try to get it's attention by trying to log into another web site and trying to force the system to give you the goods. It would seem that there should be some sort of mechanisim that would work better than these redirects to the login server prior to obtaining the wifi access. I have tried to figure out how to force the browser to go to the redirect page, but I find that they fiddle with those addresses to, so what you may have saved for a paticular airport or other site, may not be the same the next time you go through there. Any ideas on how to speed this process up so that I can get the redirect faster than setting there trying to get to a URL that I can not reach until I go through the redirect steps. I have several Android devices and all of them seem to have the same issue, I have not carried a laptop with me in some time, but always seemed to see the same thing. I have heard that a lot of these things still favour I.E. though I hope that is no longer true. Today I was in line to get on board the airplane, I had my phone in hand with my eticket on it, somehow or another I lost the eticket and tried to re-load it, well the stupid WiFi would not do the redirect and so I had to grab the piece of paper that had my baggage tags on it and let them use That. The delay was caused because I could not get the redirect to log into the airport WiFi system, it finally came but I was on board the aircraft by that time, and seated too. ___ PLUG mailing list PLUG@lists.pdxlinux.org http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug

It worked. The safe-upgrade command took over ten minutes with screens and screens full of really, really scary stuff. But it ended without error, and afterward I was able to install the flashplugin-installer without problems. And after restarting Firefox the Flash videos are now working. Many thanks for the suggestions! ___ PLUG mailing list PLUG@lists.pdxlinux.org http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug

I'd start with: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -f install sudo apt-get install aptitude sudo aptitude safe-upgrade sudo aptitude install flashplugin-installer see if aptitude helps you out on those held packages... [PLUG] Flash (sigh)
On Xubuntu 14.04.1 my browser of choice is Firefox. Lately I have been having problems with Flash content on webpages. At the moment Youtube will not play, nor will anything else. I also have Chrome and Opera installed, and neither of them will display Flash content. This always used to work, so I am trying to figure out what has gone wrong. In particular I am trying to view the Flash on the following URL: https://portlandstate.qualtrics.com//SE/?SID=SV_9LHSxbSmVeNMgwR Synaptic says that flashplugin-installer is installed. I tried reinstalling it, but got the following error messages: E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages. E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages. E: Unable to correct dependencies E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages. E: Unable to correct dependencies E: Unable to lock the download directory I also tried it with Dolphin and Chrome on my Android phone, and can't get the video to play there either. Any suggestions? ___ PLUG mailing list PLUG@lists.pdxlinux.org http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug

I really need to see the main.cf body_checks entry. Also, let us know if you're using amavis -- it's good but it adds another wrinkle to the diagnostic process. -B. -- Brian P.
