Right click on any of the buttons to get to a customize menu. Once
there, you can drag the buttons to get a different order, or drag them
to the customize window to get rid of them entirely.

I haven't noticed this yet ... color ... well, now I have. It thinks
I've spelled color wrong.

Hmmm, Preferences->Composition->Spelling is set to English/UK.  I
certainly didn't do that. I've now changed it back to English/US.

Yeah. I've trained my mouse hand to click on the right most button.
Fortunately it doesn't do anything hazardous, but it is an annoyance.

The weirder one is how the spell check dictionary changed. I see that
there's an add on available, but why should it have changed? Sigh.

should

I used OpenShot today, but I didn't see any separate audio. Maybe
there's a way to split the audio from the video that I don't know about.

All of the non-linear video editors I've seen (e.g., kdenlive) include
a separate represenation of video and audio tracks.

  https://kdenlive.org/features

Most of them also have a bit of a learning curve. Based on the
description of your problem, it sounds like you can get away with a
basic editor. There are several Free/open packages out there, and
they're probably already packaged up for your distribution.

Yes. Those images are the idea I'm looking for, especially the Cinerella

kdenlive does this if I understand what you are asking about.

[PLUG] Video editor with audio graph?

2015-09-25 Thread Dick Steffens
Does anyone know of a video editor that also includes a graph of the
audio ala Audacity?

I'm working on a transcription where I need to list the time codes at
the beginning and end of a "line" which is not necessarily a sentence.
The video I have is just the time code on the screen plus audio. I can
open the .mov file in Audacity and can pretty much line up elapsed time
and get close to that with the OpenShot video editor, but not quite.
Note that time code is h:mm:ss:ff where ff is the frame number within
that second, there being 24 frames per second. This is working, but
takes a fair amount of time to "see" the start and end of a line. It
would be much easier if I could also see the graph of the audio.
