Interesting: mailman is active and confirmed my subscription, but my message to the list never returned (sent twice on successive days) and there no other messages arrived. So the mail list is dead while the MLM remains. Perhaps stackexchange or usenet has alpine users who could offer ideas. Paul, I tried to build 2.21 from slackware-current, but it needs updated libraries not in 14.2. So, I'm limited to 2.20. Just subscribed to the alpine-info mail list at UDub. Will see if anyone there has an idea how to fix the missing subject line in forwarded messages. Rich ___ PLUG mailing list PLUG@lists.pdxlinux.org http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug

Paul, Yesterday I did the equivalent by moving ~/.pinerc to a different name then copying /etc/pinerc to ~/.pinerc. No improvements. Just now I took your suggestion and there's still no improvement. It's strange that the new version strips off the subject line _only_ when I forward a message, not when I reply to one. I, too, have no reason to move from alpine so if you have thoughts on what to try next, or where I might find some docs on this. My web search finds hits on Outlook and a couple of similar issues with earlier alpine versions (on BSD), but nothing helpful. I just built and installed Alpine 2.21 on my Mac. I'm unable to duplicate your problem with forwarding messages. I'll try to get some time to build/install it on my Linux machines, but that's a task for non-work hours. -- Paul Heinlein heinl...@madboa.com 45°38' N, 122°6' W___ PLUG mailing list PLUG@lists.pdxlinux.org http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug

[PLUG] Alpine issue after upgrade
This past weekend I upgraded my desktop server/workstation from Slackware-14.1 to -14.2. Now I'm slowing re-compiling non-distribution packages that need to be upgraded. However, ... I have an issue with the new alpine-2.20 not seen in the 20 years I've uses pine/alpine as my MUA. When I forward a message (such as a spam report) the Subject: line is blank. I need to manually copy it from the original message to the forwarded one. I've no idea where to look for the cause. Perhaps those of you, such as Paul, who use alpine will supply a suggestion on diagnosing this issue. Rich ___ PLUG mailing list PLUG@lists.pdxlinux.org http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
