I have word lists for password cracking. I don't know if it has everything. Re: [PLUG] Word List
Bingo. /usr/share/dict/ has several word lists. I knew it was in there, someplace. You *DID* say "_all_ the words in the English language." If you are looking "free" [as in free beer], there are lists of the N most common English words [ N being a few thousand]. The lists are aimed at English as Second Language. If you are looking for rare words there are lists aimed a Scrabble(TM) players. Never checked price or availability in electronic format. If you don't mind a dated list that would need some pre-processing I believe there are dictionaries in the Gutenberg Project. Improved spell checkers don't use an alpabetical plain text file anymore. well, that's disappointing. Aspell has some binary format. You might install the mythes package - its word index is | so you can parse that. Something other than /usr/share/dict/american-english It exists in Ubuntu. Red Hat/Centos doesn't have it by default, but maybe it's an optional package we don't install at work. yum search dictionary does show this, however: words.noarch : A dictionary of English words for the /usr/share/dict directory T -- Timothy J.
