You said that:
a) you cannot copy files from internal disk. True?
b) you are unable to connect to different machine on local network. True?

a) how do you mount that internal disk?
    Can you see it mouted by: mount?
b) do you know IP address of both machines?
    Try: ip address
    Can you connect (ssh) using those IPs?
