The newer versions of Chromium don't have the wrench. As for it working in
Chromium it was before I tried the xfce WM. Now it doesn't. When I open
hangouts in Chrome I get two errors: The first is, 'Could not load Google
Talk Plugin,' and the second reads, 'Could not load Google Talk Plugin
Video Renderer.' When I attempt to open hangouts with Chromium no errors
appear and the video chat loads and everything is good except chromium will
not accept any keystrokes. I try to type into the address bar but get
nothing. I try to type into a window (like a message in gmail) and nothing
appears. I even reinstalled the OS with the original WM and it still
doesn't work. How can I install the previous versions of chromium?

FireFox very slow on Win and Linux

2014-07-13 Thread techlists

Hi,

I was thinking it was my machine. I'm running and i5 with 8GB RAM and
Kubuntu. And I was also thinking it was my connection.

Right now I was trying to reach a website on my local dev box and it
timed out. I went over to my Win laptop and the site came up. So I
decided to try an alternation browser on my Linux box. It came with
Rekonq. WOW it was snappy.

I know others have complained also. Maybe it is time to move on to
Chrome or something else. Both FireFox and Thunderbird have been slow
for me. I move from Thunderbird to KMail and it seems to work much
better.

Any thoughts on why FireFox would be so slow?

Thanks!!

Keith

Chromium Browser Vs Google Chrome

2014-07-13 Thread techlists

Hi,

I have seen some talk about the Chromium Browser.

I'm curious about the merits of one over the other. Or maybe I should
be looking at some other browser altogether.

Thank you for your input.

I think I just read that the issue is that I'm running the 64 bit version.
There is no issue with the 32 bit. Is there a way to install the 32 bit
version and run it on my 64 bit OS or else will I need to install the 32
bit os?
