That machine is a good performer for just about any desktop use. Under Linux it just gets better. It's quiet stable and straightforward. I have run different versions of Linux on that same chassis all with good results. The best performance boost besides ram in that machine is an SSD. Someone down there needs to find out what (the place install fests are held at) does with their old computer equipment. Other school systems in the valley employ the use of public surplus.
