looking for some Postgres talent

2018-10-08 Thread David Schwartz
My project at work needs to find a PG expert who’s got experience migrating a
DB from Oracle.

What’s the best way to find someone local with the necessary talents?

This is probably a contract position until the migration is done, and maybe
longer if it looks like we need to have a PG expert on staff for a while.

Re: Ubuntu 18.04lts - cannot find bcmath package

2018-10-08 Thread techlists
Thanks for pointing that out to me. Not sure why 16.04lts would be
supported into 2021 while having PHP unsupported.

I'm trying to build a private server for just me to learn Magento 2. I
have PHP 7.1 installed on Ubuntu 16.04 and I believe I've installed all
the packages that are required by Magento 2.

Composer is hanging when I try to install Magento and I am not sure
why.. This is a subject for another post.

Would be fun and I'm sure I would learn a lot, however that is probably
way out side what I am trying to accomplish.

That is a problem - PHP 7.0.

I started by installing Ubuntu 18.04lts and then found out that Magento 2 is
not compatible with PHP 7.2.

With Magento 2 not being compatible with PHP 7.2... I tried installing PHP 7.1

I'm a software developer not a system admin. I can do some stuff... I like to

Wait - are using apt or dpkg for the updating? My understanding of Mint is
that you need to use update manager or the dependency thing can bite you.

Failed apt updates are usually from some dependency check. These aren't always
easy, have caused me to change distributions for less, but usually require some
regressive cleanup. See what didn't install prior in the process, and
otherwise try to install the package manually to see why it's failing. It's
generally a bug, but can be varying degrees of problematic.

There is probably more to the logs than you pasted here for prior failures.
