I got my Framework 16 a couple of months ago. Quite happy with it except
for the battery life when under load, but with a dedicated GPU on board
I'm not sure what I expected. It's definitely not a lightweight
computer, but it's not so heavy that it's a bother.

My only complaints besides the battery are minor nitpicks and not enough
to diminish from the overall experience. Highly recommended if you can
afford it.

The 13 was about $1300 for self-assemble. Pre-assembled is another 2 or 3
hundred dollars.

They default to windows, but several Linux distributions are supported.

I don't know about screen readers.

For another install today I saw that the new LTS version of Ubuntu asked
about accessibility and included screen reader as an option, but that was

If anything, the ability to change out the ports is great. Imagine the
situation where you're sitting at a table, plugged in, and someone comes
by and kicks your power cable ripping it out of the computer. In a lot
of cases with other laptops, you're now going to have to replace that
port as it's going to at the very least break the solder joints; and
you're not going to be able to replace just that port as it's soldered
to the motherboard. Now you have a $500+ repair minimum to replace the
motherboard in your laptop.

With the Framework, you likely just damaged the $10 expansion card. So
you pull it out, replace it with another one, and move on with your day.

Yeah, extra layer of protection.

I just went for 4 USB C ports and the USB C hubs I always carry with me
anyway. If the network port didn't stick out I'd get one of those.

Guys,

I am totally blind, and that’s partly due to traumatic brain injury back in
1989. I’ve also had my moments where I am exceedingly curse when it comes to
some subjects. I also tend to be a little bit obsessive, compulsive, and that
happens to be the autistic side of my nature which I’ve had all my life. I am a
bit unusual, but science and technology are my thing so I tend not to ask too
many questions because I’ve already done most of the research. However,
sometimes research isn’t enough and I may end up having gas questions here. So,
one should look past some of the commentary on here and recognize and realize
those of us were traumatic brain. Injuries may not necessarily operate in a
normal fashion. I happen to be one of the few exceptions because the area of
the brain and question for me that was damaged with my visual cortex. Also, as
an aside, I also have prosthetic eyes, so it doesn’t matter what my visual
cortex does because I wouldn’t be able to perceive anything anyway. In any
case, this really hasn’t slowed me down much in both the accessibility and
Lennox fields. I’ve been writing a bunch of scripts, especially for . Comes in
handy when I want to download a video from YouTube and then listen to it using
VLC. Makes a lot easier than having to deal with the stupid app and their
commercials.

Anyway, that’s my opinion on this subject and now we should probably get back
to Lennox and what it can be used for and how accessible it really is.

I’m going to have to check with a few people I know on a couple of other
mailing list such as Blind – apples and [MacVisionaries]. Those guys have
missed around with VMware on Apple equipment (which I happen to be running
currently) and they’ve been able to use Lennox with a screen reader from inside
the VMware session. Mostly, I’m gonna have to get the keyboard shortcuts so
that I can actually interact inside said VMware session. It would be nice to be
able to run Lennox here again on something other than its own tiny little
laptop, which is significantly underpowered and therefore overworked.
