I couldn't tell from that link if it actually resolved the issue.
Usually I try switching to/from Wayland/Xorg to the other when I have
display problems.
You can have both installed and switch back and forth in the window manager
when you login.
For the longest time I had Wayland issues on Fedora with the video card in
my machine; but it's working now.

I had same problem but I picked up the laptop and tip it on its side and the 
screen moved around til it was upright.

I remember seeing this issue on a mailing list a while back related to
Cinnamon settings causing it; the solution there was to go into the
settings and turn off the option to rotate the screen by default.

Hello,  The other day I installed a fresh copy of Debian 10 on my HP 840 
laptop.  Previously I had Debian 9 on it and had a kernelpanic error which 
crashed the system.  I ran the fdsk command to try and restore it but as of 
today its still down.
I put in a new hard drive and ran through the install.  Now when I try and log 
in the screen is upside down.  I am not sure what happened.  Maybe the OS 
thinks this is a computer pad device or something.  Does anyone know how I can
